What Would David Say?

I know that you will miss me

And I will miss you to.

My time with you was much too short

With nothing we could do.

You taught me how to love and care,

You taught me right from wrong.

So when God stretched out his loving arms,

I knew where I belonged.

Please don't cry because I am gone,

My love lives on in you.

The happiness and joy you see,

My eyes will see this too.

Remember me with laughter,

Let not your heart be sad.

Remember all the times we shared,

 and all the fun we had.

Listen to the summer breeze,

I will be by your side.

Feel me within your heart,

see me in the ocean tide.

To all my family and friends,

to all those I loved so much,

Someday our love will join again,

Embraced by God's sweet touch.

Mommy I know

Mommy I know your hurting, and I know the reasons why.

But I am in a loving place.....so Mommy please don't cry.

God came and took me home way up in the sky.

I really didn't understand so I had to ask him why.

He said you are my angel and it's time for your goodbyes.

Then he gave me little angel wings so I could learn to fly.

Mommy I am always with you. I am always by your side.

So when you feel that little breeze.

You know I'm flying by.

Mommy I know your hurting and I know the reasons why.

I hope you forgive yourself for things you didn't do.

No one could have stopped it. Not even you.

God knows what really happened and there is always a reason why.

So please don't blame yourself .....it will only make you cry.

Mommy I know your hurting and I know the reasons why.

I'm waiting for that moment we will all be together way up in the sky.

So when you are missing me and really feeling blue.

Look up in the Heavens ......there you will see me

Smiling down on you.

Precious Child

In my dreams you are alive and well

In my mind I see you clear as a bell

In my soul there is a hole that can never be filled

But in my heart there is hope because you are with me still

In my plans I was the first to leave

But in this world I was left here to grieve

In my soul there is a hole that can never be filled

But in my heart there is and you are with me still

God knows I want to hold you, see you, touch you

And when we are both in heaven

On that day - I will again

Please know you're not forgotten until then

In my heart you live on, always there, never gone

Precious child you left too soon

And though it may be true that we're apart

You will live - forever - in my heart

by Karen Taylor-Good

The LENGTH of a person's life

Doesn't gauge the DEPTH of your love

or your sadness when they leave

It's how DEEPLY you loved

That will determine the DEPTH of your sorrow

No matter the LENGTH of stay

My First Christmas In Heaven

I see the countless Christmas Trees around the world below,

with tiny lights, like heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular; please wipe away that tear,

for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,

but the sounds of music can't compare -

with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,

for it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me. I see the pain inside your heart,

but I am not so far away. We really aren't apart.

So be happy for me dear ones. You know I hold you dear,

and be glad I'm spending Christmas, with Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift, from my heavenly home above.

I send you each a memory of, of my undying love.

After all "Love" is the gift, more precious than pure gold.

It was always most import in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do,

for I can't count the blessing or love he has for each of you.

So, have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear.

Remember, I'm spending Christmas, with Jesus Christ this year.

Christmas Memories

There is a memory in my heart,
When Christmas comes around;
Children's laughter filled the air,
And blessed it with joyous sound.

A little bit of magic,
Like sparkle on the snow;
Time stood still, now time is gone,
Where did the laughter go?

 Where did the piping carols go,
The ones my child used to sing?
They're tucked so deeply in my heart,
In memories Christmas brings.

Where did the little stockings go,
That hung on the mantle with care?
Tucked away in my box of dreams,
Of the child no longer there.

For Christmas brings a special ache,
Deep within my soul;
For the child I loved and now is gone,
The half that made me whole.

Gone are the dreams of our future,
Left is a distant past;
Yet childish laughter rings in my heart,
And memories that will last.

Celebrate Christmas in Heaven, my child;
Let your laughter fill the air;
Until the day I am by your side,
My love will be with you there.

Broken Chain

 We little knew that morning that God
  was going to call your name.
   in life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same. It broke
our hearts to lose you, you did not go
alone; for part of us went with you,
  the day God called you home.
 You left us peaceful memories,
   your love is still our guide;
and though we cannot see you,
  you are always at our side.
 Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same;
     but as God calls us
  one by one, The Chain
      will link again.

He Only Takes The Best

A heart of gold stopped beating.
Two shining eyes at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
Little did we know that morning.
The sorrow the day would bring.
The end was sudden, the shock severe.
We never knew that death was so near.
When days are sad and lonely,
And evening shadows fall.
We hear your voice and see your face.
Your sweet memory lingers on.
God knew you had to leave us.
But you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you.
The day God called you home.

Miss Me But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little but not to long
and not with a head bowed low.
Remember the love that was once shared
Miss me but let me go.
For this is a journey we must all take
and each must go alone
It is all a part of the Master's plan
a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
go to friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me but let me go.

When I Must Leave You

When I must leave you for a little while.
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears,
And hug your sorrow to you through the years.
But start out bravely with a gallant smile,
And for my sake and in my name live on and
do all things the same.
Feed not your loneliness on empty days, but fill
each waking hour in useful ways.
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer
and I will comfort you and hold you near;
And never never be afraid to die,
for I am waiting for you
In the sky!

Psalms: 23

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths
of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou
art with me. Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort
me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou
anointest my head with oil, my cup
runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all
the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house
of the Lord forever.

Come To Me

God saw you getting tired
A cur was not to be,
So He put His arms around you,
and whispered,
"Come To Me."
With tearful eyes we watched
you and saw you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
Many times we thought of you,
many times we've cried,
If love alone could save you
you never would have died.
A golden heart stopped beating,
your tender hands at rest,
God took you home to prove
to us
He only takes the best.

When God Calls Little Children

When God calls little children to dwell with him above.
We mortals sometimes question the wisdom of
His love. For no heartache compares with the death
of one small child, who does so much to make our
world wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling the aged to his fold.
So he picks a rosebud before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them and so He
takes but few. To make the land of heaven mote
to view. Believing this is difficult, still somehow we must try.
The saddest word mankind knows will always be
 "Good bye."
So when a little child departs we who are left behind,
must realize God loves children...
Angels are hard to find.

Loving Memories

Your gentle face and patient smile
With sadness we recall
You had a kindly word for each
And died beloved by all.

The voice is mute and stilled the heart
That loved us well and true,
Ah, bitter was the trial to part
From one so good as you.

You are not forgotten loved one
Nor will you ever be
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee.

We miss you now, our hearts are sore,
As time goes by we miss you more,
Your loving smile, your gentle face,
No one can fill your vacant place.

"PARABLE OF THE ROSE"

A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully and before it

blossomed, he examined it. He saw the bud that would soon blossom,

but noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought........ How can any

beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so many sharp

thorns? Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose, and

before it was ready to bloom, it died. So it is with many people.

Within every soul there is a rose: The God-like qualities planted in

us at birth growing amid the thorns of our faults. Many of us look at

ourselves and see only the thorns, the defects. We despair, thinking

that nothing good can possibly come from us. We neglect to water the

good within us, and eventually it dies. We never realize our

potential. Some people do not see the rose within themselves; someone

else must show it to them. One of the greatest gifts a person can

possess is to be able to reach past the thorns and find the rose

within others. This is the characteristic of love .... to look at a

person and know their true faults. Accepting that person into your

life, while recognizing the nobility in their soul. Help them to

realize that they can overcome their faults. If we show them the

rose, they will conquer their thorns. Only then will they blossom

many times over.

I Am Not There

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid, you see.
I took His hand when I heard His call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found the peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full,
I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee.
God wanted me now,
He set me free.

A Joy Forever New

Please don't sing sad songs for me,
Forget your grief and fears,
For I am in a perfect place,
Away from pain and tears.
I'm far away from hunger
And hurt and want and pride,
I have a place in Heaven
With the Master at my side
My life on earth was very good,
As earthly lives can go,
But Paradise is so much more
Than anyone can know.
My heart is filled with happiness
And sweet rejoicing, too.
To walk with God is perfect peace,
A joy forever new

A Million Times I've Missed You

A million times I've missed you,
a million times I've cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
you never would have died.

To some you are forgotten,
to others just part of the past;
but to me who loved and lost you,
your love will always last.

It broke my heart to lose you,
you didn't go alone;
for my life went with you -sweetheart-
the day God called you home,
for things on earth didn't matter,
but now I feel so alone.

My heart will always be broken,
my life will never be whole,
until I see you again
on God's golden shore.

God's garden must be beautiful
for you are there to stay,
the rose of love within me
will bloom again someday.

We might be parted for a while,
our hearts will always be together
for one day soon,
we will hold hands again forever.

For Such a Little While

God gave you your daughter
For such a little while;
He put a bit of heaven
In the sunshine of her smile.

He took dust from
The brightest twinkling stars
And made her sparkling eyes;
And now, she's gone back home to God,
To play up in the skies.

And though she left so quickly
That your hearts are grieved and sad,
We know she lives with God
And her small heart is glad.

And though your precious darling
Was just a rosebud small;
She'll bloom in all her beauty
On the other side of the wall.

Waiting at Eternity's Door

Death beckoned him
with outstretched hand
And whispered softly
of 'an unknown land' . . .
But he was not
afraid to go
For though the path
he did not know,
He took death's hand
without a fear
For God who safely
brought him here
Had promised He
would lead the way
Into eternity's
bright day . . .
For none of us
need go alone
Into the valley
that's unknown
But guided by
our Father's hand
We journey to
the promised land . . .
And as his loving,
faithful wife
Who shared his home
and heart and life,
You will find comfort
for your grief,
In knowing death
brought sweet relief,
For now he is free
from all suffering and pain
And your 'great loss'
became his gain . . .
You know his love
is with you still,
For he loved you in life
and he always will . . .
For love like yours
can never end
Because it is
the perfect blend
Of joys and sorrows,
smiles and tears
That just grows stronger
with the years
And love like this
can never die,
For you 'take it with you
to the sky' . . .
So think of your loved one
as living above
No farther away
than your undying love . . .
And now he is happy and free
once more
And he waits for you
at eternity's door.

A Bright New World

We feel so sad when those we love
Are touched by deaths dark hand,
Bu it would ease our sorrow
If we could but understand
That death is just a gateway
That all men must pass through
And on the other side of death,
In a world that's bright and new,
Our loved ones wait to welcome us
To that land free from tears
Where joy becomes eternal
And time is not counted by years

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me

When tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me.

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today;
While thinking of the many things
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me ...
As much as I love you;
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand.

She said my place was ready
In heaven far above;
And that I'd have to leave behind,
All those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye;
For all my life, I'd always thought
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for
So much yet to do;
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad;
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday
Just even for awhile,
I'd say goodbye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized
That this could never be;
For emptiness and memories
Would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things
I might miss come tomorrow;
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates
I felt so much at home;
When God looked down and smiled at me
From His great golden throne.

He said, "This is eternity
And all I've promised you;
Today your life on earth is past,
But here it all starts anew."

"I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last;
And since each day's the same day,
There's no longing for the past."

"But you have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true;
Though at times you did do things,
You knew you shouldn't do."

"But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free;
So won't you take my hand
And share my life with me?"

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart ...
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here ... in your heart.

I'll Lend You

"I'll lend you for a little time
A child of mine," He said,
"For you to love the while he lives
And mourn for when he is dead.

"It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three;
But will you, 'til I call him back
Take care of him for me?

"He'll bring his charms to gladden you
And shall his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

"I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return;
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

"I've looked the wide world over
In search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes
I have selected you.

"Now will you give him all your love
Nor think the labor vain;
Nor hate Me when I come to call
And take him back again?"

I fancied that I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, Thy Will be done!
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.

"We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known
Forever grateful stay.

"But shall the Angels call for him
Much sooner then we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand."

SEASONED GRIEF

There used to be a point to summing up a year just past

not as a personal accomplishment but as a reflection.

Leaving previous hurts behind was welcomed

and the sensible thing to do -

I thought I was getting wiser as I was getting older.

With new years clean and full of possibilities,

becoming a better person seemed simple,

another chance at getting it right,

like a redemption, being forgiven for

having blundered or been found wanting.

But death changed everything, without permission.

Resolutions, made sincerely and broken quickly,

offended my need to hold on to the past,

to rewind life, fast backwards,

so I could capture what I had lost.

Still, time went on, regardless of my pleas.

And when exhaustion set in, as eventually it must,

I understood there would be another future,

not the one I thought I had the right to expect

but one where I dared carry hope in my heart again.

A Face In The Clouds

I looked towards the clouds today

and for a moment saw your face

And wondered just were you have gone

with a hope it's a better place

Did you show yourself to me today

to tell me you're alright?

Or was it just a daydream

playing tricks upon my sight

Then I thought of when you left

you did not say a word

No hugs and kisses..

no good-bye was heard

You have changed our lives forever

Your time here not in vain

and hope you know we always tried

to keep you safe from pain

We will always feel the void inside

because you are not here

But each new thought you send our way

let's us know you're always near

So until our journey nears it's end

And we hear the angels sing

We'll face each new day as it comes

and live off the love you bring

Happy New Year

What does the new year mean to me?

It's another year to be bereaved.

365 days that I cannot see

my child who meant so much to me.

Sometimes while riding in our car

I try to see into distances afar.

I shut my eyes and shake my head

and then I realize he's really dead.

This child whom I have loved so much

is nowhere close where I can touch.

That in itself is a terrible feeling;

it keeps my emotions rocking and reeling.

I look at his picture and it's hard to believe

that this is all the older he will ever be.

No daughter-in-law will ever be mine,

no grandchildren from him to take up my time.

Happy New Year I just can't say.

It means different things from day-to-day.

It should mean I'm glad my son is here

to celebrate this brand new "year."

But since I'm one of the parents bereaved,

this is a fact that will never be.

Another year has come upon us; I'll get thru it - simply must!

I look For You..

I look for you in everything and in everywhere.

I search the sea of people looking for your eyes.

I listen for your voice to reappear in my life.

I feel your love, all around me.

I want to feel you in my arms though, as they surround me.

I want to scream.

I want to cry.

I want to know just why you had to die.

I feel the sadness.

I feel the pain.

I know you had so much more to gain.

I am selfish and want you back.

I know that will never be.

I search the sea of people to see if I see your face.

I will search until I find you...in heaven...or on a cloud.

SOME WORDS FRIENDS NEVER SAY

For more than 40 years I have had the best friend you could ever have. When I told my best friend I was fat, she never said, I just lost three pounds without even trying.

When we went to a sock hop together in college and she was offered a ride home, she never ditched me.

When I gave myself a home permanent and left it on too long, she was the only one to sit with me in the bathroom until it grew out.

When I told my best friend my husband gave me two snow tires for our anniversary, she never said, "You should be happy he remembered."

When I was pregnant and my stomach looked like a tray on a car door in a drive - in, she never said, "There's a glow about pregnant women."

When I had a miscarriage and everyone else in the world said, "There will be other babies," she cried with me over the one I lost.

When she told me she was staying home for the summer, I wouldn't have dreamed of sending her a card from Spain telling her what a great time I was having.

When her mixer broke down, I never asked her if she had sent in the warranty card so she'd be covered.

When I moved 3,000 miles away, she never once told me what I was doing to her. When her mother died, I never said, She had a rich full life and she was in her 70's. When I argued with my husband and begged her for advice, she kept her mouth shut. She just listened.

When we couldn't get a sitter and had to bring the kids along to her house for dinner, she never fell apart. When I had my first autographing party and no one showed up, she never suggested, "They probably didn't see the ad."

Recently, my best friend lost her child. He was her youngest and was in his 20's. I listened to her. I cried with her. I felt pain that I had never known I could feel before. But not once did I say to her, "I know how you feel."
