 Some Early Bad Guys

The big float plane (a two seater?) on the right belongs to the criminal Japanese organization, Yako in The Blood Flower. Here it machine-guns a civil airplane. The Dragon appears in The Flaming Circle.

 The Projectile

On the right, a Scarlet Stormer tangles with a couple of Projectiles. You can see the planform here. Above is a detail of another angle on a Projectile

.

Planes From "The Black Ghost"

 The Lancers Last Flight
The Merideth Falcon belonged to Bill Martinson and, along with an incendiary planted in the engine compartment, it  was instrumental in destroying the Lancer.

  Earmarked Gold
These are "Burton Hawks" A squadron of them forced Bill and his Lancer  to land on the sea, and took him prisoner.

An interesting fleet of biplanes. Shaft drive??
I don't know if one could be made to fly without cheating a bit and enlarging the fin. The solution- Cheat and enlarge the fin.

According to the text, these are Red and Black.

Note the Eaglet on the left

 One Shall Die .

According to the text these are gray. And very fast. One shot down Cy Hawkins in a Snorter.
  ---------------
The novel cabin arrangement is shown in the detail on the left.

The Crest
of the Cordillera

This a Mordecai Murphy Story. The planes are green

The plane had a rocket assist. And was the centerpiece of a complex plot in which the bad guys convince an eccentric millionaire that he flew to the moon where aliens were about to launch an attack on Earth and. . .
.

Silver with "beryllium skin" - Launched at a 45 degree angle on the rockets alone - Ceiling 60,000 ft (?) - Retractable amphibian - The rocket exhaust was used as a weapon

Philippine Gold
These planes attacked by ramming their opponent. In the picture below you might be able to make out the conical steel shield in front of the pilot.

After a successful attack the plane was to separate giving the pilot a chance to parachute to safety.

I have no idea why the landing gear is down in the picture to the left.
