Tandy Walker's first plane

Tandy C. Walker  sent this to the SAM mailing list. He writes..
"When you said 'we cobbled them together at the time when I was a kid', it reminded me of the Joe Ott kit I built in 1943 when I was 8 years old, cardboard formers and all!  Attached is the picture my grandmother took of me holding it.  I was so proud of my first accomplishment even though I had trouble keeping the wings from sagging. As you can see, I improvised with cardboard supports.-Ha  However, these were my humble beginnings of a life long love of model building.  I am 66 years old now and still an active model builder........Tandy

Tandy it looks like you had a fine grandmother.
