In 1936 C. Rupert Moore set out to make twin engine rubber powered model airplanes. By 1938 he had invented  the Moore drive - and made it work.. He reports that in 1938 he flew a scale "Castor" in the  Frog Cup Elimination's he averaged a remarkable 54 sec a flight, which certainly should quiet the scoffers.  I have no idea what a "Castor" is.

He writes in Dec 42 Aeromodeller. "Just before the trails I patented the "Moore Drive" in order that it could not be exploited to the detriment of the aeromodelist."

The introduction of the Moore drive was accompanied by a lively controversy in the 1943 issues of Aeromodeller, right in the middle of the war and everything.

The gearbox is the "standard" item, and  I can see no way to stretch wind  the motor, at least in this manifestation. Perhaps this will help...

The border of the title is from a Super Scale Kits  ad in the  May 43 Aeromodeller. The whole kit cost 7/6d.
The black and white diagram comes from  Flying Scale Models a MAP book by R.G. Moulton
