This was taken seriously enough to have been been wind tunnel tested by the USAF. I found the pic in Bob Meuser's Free Flight column in the July 84 Model Aviation. The plot was to reduce high speed flutter with the truss. But as Bob Meuser Points out "Raise the nose and the whole thing suddenly becomes a lot thinner". Burt Rutan is said to have investigated this. Did he make a full sized one??  Meuser suggested it might have made an interesting  pre rule change Pennyplane..
