The TWIN PUSHER PAGES

"Dannysoars First Ever Twin Pusher E mail/ Postal Contest" Page is dead!
Long live "Twin Pushers and Other Free Flight Oddities!

The RULES PAGE

This came from an old Air Trails. It looks about 1930. Maybe someday it'll
all come back
Last year we had a postal, that was more or less run out of the Free Flight Bulletin Board. While it stirred up a deal of good conversation, I didn't get a lot of times. Perhaps we ought to try again. I invite your thoughts. Please feel free to write me at..  dannysoar@worldnet.att.net
THE  '98 RULES

     1) To run through the summer of '98, a cut off date to be decided.
     2) For twin pushers- which must have two extensible motors on two motor sticks and two
     pusher props.
     a) Modern designs OK
     b) Must be constructed of traditional (pre-WWII) materials. CA and reinforcements of
     modern materials are OK
b-1 Should they appear, a simultaneous class/event will be held for foamies with separate
awards for best Twin Pusher of Any Kind and best Other Kind of Twin Pusher.
     c) Molded and/or paddle props are OK. Folders and featherers are not.
     3) Best total score of 3 consecutive official flights
     a) Add 60 seconds extra for each max. i.e. if your Twin Pusher is still flying and in sight after
six minutes, it counts as a seven minute flight.
     c) Flights of less than 20 sec can be re-flown.
     d) Fly as often as you like. But each entry must consist of three consecutive official flights
     e) Should you achieve 3 maxes :-), take an unlimited flight. The longest final flight will
     determine the winner
     f) If you have submitted a set of three consecutive officials and achieve a better set, you are
free to submit the new set.
     g) You must decide whether a flight is official before you launch.

                         -------comments and explanations------
     1) So far no one as asked that we run it through fall for the Southern Hemisphere folk.
     2) I don't know to what extent the basic 30's twin pusher can be improved on, but it would
be interesting to see. Of course if you want to fly in the SAM events, you have to build a
     period pusher.
     3) I will be pleasantly amazed should any one achieve three maxes. But who knows. The
reason for the maxes is to avoid the development a binocular race.

***The reasons for the extra minute awarded to a six minute max***
     A) to acknowledge the accomplishment
     B) to allow for the fact that, if it is still flying after six minutes it will probably fly for another
     minute
     C) to make the bittersweet of a flyaway more sweet.
