QCSC COMPANY BACKGROUND
and PHILOSOPHY
QCSC was founded by Daniel Buckley,
an auto mechanic with over 30 years experience,
ASE certified Master GAM (CMAT-L1) and SAE member.
Prior to founding QCSC he operated a four bay shop
and taught auto mechanics on both college and trade school levels.
With a background in auto repair, shop management, teaching,
and computer programming, it became obvious that the greatest challenge was in making
'an accurate and cost effective
diagnosis'. Each work experience yielded basic lessons;
1. The experienced and knowledgable auto mechanic is the most critical
element in making an accurate diagnosis. It is his understanding of basic
principles and his imagination as applied to new configurations that enables tough problems
to be solved. Tools can only enhance his skills, they can't replace him.
2. Capital investment equipment does not make money if it is under-utilized
or not necessary.
3. In servicing computer controlled cars,
it is an understanding of the interaction of input and output devices,
the sequence of events and knowing what is normal for any given circuit,
that marks the best mechanics.
4. Because every year, 30 plus manufacturers produce 600 plus different models,
repair shops need a way to develop their own knowledge bases.
5. In order to service this ever expanding number of different models cost effectively, diagnostic equipment must be versatile and affordable.
6. The fastest, most powerful computer is the human mind. The knowledgable mechanic using basic tools can run rings around a mediocre mechanic using high priced diagnostic equipment. And most importantly, the knowledgable
mechanic gets to keep more of what he earns.
