Randall Shiroma

"Installation view"

1995
terrazzo

Randall Shiroma's beautiful and elegant terrazzo pieces seem to have a charged inner energy. Straddling the line between abstraction and representation, these large-scale works have an elemental and primordial quality about them, connecting us to distant times and cultures. Shiroma is a south Bay artist who was born in Hawaii and moved to California in 1979. He is a two-time graduate of San Jose State University, first with an M.A. in 1980 and an M.F.A in 1982. He has received a number of awards, including a Eureka Fellowship in 1994, and his work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
