BRANT KINGMAN Minneapolis artist Brant Kingman creates bronze sculpture that comments on the fragmented nature of our contemporary psyche. In his work, the human figure appears alternately as a shell that has been discarded, or as a newly-formed entity emerging from a cocoon-like state. Often, the figurative components of the work appears to be in motion due to the artist's use of classical Contrapposto, yet references to fossilization appear throughout the work. A careful investigation of the surface details will often reveal buried imagery from current and past civilizations, lending another layer of complexity to these sculptural forms.
