Daions Online Electric Guitar Page
Solid Body Electrics
Daion primarily made three models of solid body electric guitars that were sold in the USA.
I have seen references to some Fender and Gibson copies, as well, but have no information on these. If you have one or have info, please send it along to the email address on the home page!
The Savage
The Savage was a bolt-on neck model that shared most of the same features of the bass version, just in smaller form. The neck sported an asymetrical radius and elecs were dual humbuckers with a selector switch (neck/both/bridge) and volume/tone/volume/tone control knobs. Colors are listed on the pricelist. This pic was found and sent in by Bruce Diamond. It is obviously the same person who allowed me to use the Mk.X bass pics, but I don't have a name to give credit.
The Power Mk. X
The Power Mk. X was aimed right at the SG market. A nice, thick, squared off neck-thru design with a pair of dual coil humbuckers, a selector switch, and volume/tone/volume/tone controls. This fine example is available and residing with Bruce Diamond.
These front and back close-up shots give a good look at the continuity of the neck-thru construction. This ain't no wimpy glue-in set neck. The back shot shows off the real live wood cover plates that are matched to the grain of the back, incredible craftsmanship! Also visible are the ferrules for the strings, which run through the body. This was a hallmark of the Daion solid and even semi-hollow body instruments.
The Power Mk.XX
The Power Mk.XX was probably WAY ahead of its time. It featured the same nine piece laminated neck and laminated carved body as the Mk.XX bass. This beautiful guitar lives with Bob Rosenbloom, wo gave me permission to use his pics I found on the internet.
The close-ups here show the same attention to fine detail as the Mk.X..and then some! The Mk.XX is very thin and small-waisted so it actually feels like a much smaller guitar than it is.
Again, if you have a Daion of any different type, or in any different color, or with different options from the ones pictured here, let me know and send a picture so I can add it! The email addy is at the bottom of the home page.
