Yesterday, with my head tilted back in the shampoo bowl at the hair salon, my hairdresser introduced me to Elizabeth Dabney who was having her hair washed in the sink next to me. It turns out that Elizabeth also is an entrepreneur by way of the Internet. Elizabeth etches glass as gift items for weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions. She told me that etching glass has always been something she enjoys doing and had dreamed of turning it into her own business. But due to a full time job at the U.S. Postal Service she thought she would have to forgo her dream. A year ago the idea struck her to develop a Web site to see what opportunities that might bring. Initially she tried registering with the search engines and though she got a lot of traffic, she didn't sell anything. Then she got an idea that maybe she should register with and link to eBay.com and see what that would bring. That move was instant success for Elizabeth's etched glass business. The smile on her face as she told me about her Internet business told me that she was delighted with her find.
