Hi! My name is David Adrian. Glad to meet
you...
I'm an RCG (recent college graduate), currently working as a manufacturing
technician for a major supplier of electronic components. It's a fun job, and
it's exactly what I went to school for - down to the exact company.
Let's see, personal information... Well, I'm 32 years old, somewhat overweight
and out of shape (I'm working on that), and something of a computer geek. Which makes me wonder why I took so long to put this page up...
Hobbies - let's see. Well, I'm a role-playing gamer
from way back when... still got my Dungeons & Dragons books from way back
when they were still paper-bound and came in a box. Plus all
the newer editions. Plus Shadowrun, White Wolf
games, Traveller, Warhammer
FRPG, and I've dabbled with GURPS, though I don't own any of their books.
I read webcomics. Voraciously.
You can find some of my favorites listed on my links page - these are the ones
I try to check daily.
Webcomics aren't the only thing I read. I've been a
book junkie since forever - I read almost anything I can get my hands on,
though fantasy and science fiction are my long-time loves. Robert Heinlein,
Spider Robinson, Mercedes Lackey, Mark Twain... the list of my favorite authors
just goes on and on. I admit it: I'm an addict. But I'm not gonna
give up my reading habit; it's healthier than drugs. Plus, carrying the things
around is my most prevalent form of exercise...
But even books aren't the limit of my reading. (Told you I was an addict.)
While I was back in college, I discovered a series of fanfictions
based on one of the webcomics I read. I was hooked
instantly. Well, not instantly - it took me most of a night to finish the
archives. But by the time I was done, there was no going back. In fact, that
was the major impetus behind me starting this page - I got so hooked, I started
thinking about storylines. Then I wrote a couple. Awful, terrible things, they
were - I knew I could do better. So I did. And then one day, I actually wrote
something I considered worth reading. A couple of friends read it, and agreed
that it was, indeed, readable. So I started thinking about why I couldn't put
my stuff out on the Web, too... and I couldn't think of any reason why I
couldn't. (Except for copyright permission. But I
dealt with that.)
Not too much, actually. I don't watch much TV -
the news and the History Channel are about it, and those are infrequent. To be
honest, if someone came in and stole my TV, I probably wouldn't notice until
the next time I wanted to watch a video - probably two or three months from
now.
I'm not real fond of telephone solicitors or their electronic cousins,
spammers. If anyone has any amusing ideas for dealing with such creatures, I'd
be highly entertained to hear them. I've got several of my own ideas, mostly
involving some rather horrid mind games...
Intolerence and prejudice of most types offend me. I
don't care much bigotry in any form, and hate crimes or hateful attitudes in
general tend to leave me in a cold, seething rage.
That's really pretty much it. I don't have a lot of pet peeves, really.
(They're not very good pets, and the feeding and care of them gets to be too
expensive.)
"I am Galadrion,
and Galadrion... means... ME!"
Sorry, couldn't resist - especially since the new Lord of the Rings movie just
came out. To answer the question more seriously, Galadrion
is one - well, more than one - of my characters. In his original incarnation
(almost 21 years back, now...), Galadrion was an elf
- the name is taken from Tolkien, and translates to
"Star-light Meadow". Through the different incarnations of Dungeons
& Dragons, he's changed his class and abilities about a dozen times, but
his personality has remained consistant. I'm rather
fond of him, though I don't get to do much with him any more.
More recently, another incarnation of Galadrion has
arisen. This Galadrion is an anthromorphic
feline, a humanoid housecat with marmalade stripes. He's also my alter ego in
the furry community, so in that way I can claim he's me.
