Reviewed in Baryon Magazine by Barry Hunter.

At age five, Tarina is able to help with the chores, but as she is gathering water for her family she saves a pair of seaswams from their deadly enemy, the limid, and her life is changed forever. Seaswams are used to power ships across the oceans and enable the trade of goods between the various lands.

Tarina goes into training and has many adventures and distinguishes herself and her crew in the fifteen years of training and ten years of service before she is able to own her vessel. The Rowers are the major enemy that the traders face. Tarina gains several battle flags fighting the rowers and goes beyond the normal trade routes for cargo.

Jemit would have grown to be a woodcutter like his father except for the injured riverswam he finds in a hollow tree. His life changes as he trains to be a river pilot and also has many adventures and distinguishes himself as well.

A story of parallels that show another side of ATK Butterfly as he spins us a tale of bonding, courage, and even a bit of romance thrown in with this marvelously written tale that is a fast moving read and another feather in his quickly filling cap.
