YEAR 2004 UPDATES Current 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 2003 2002 2001 2000 1999 1998
December
22, 2004 Major
News: It
has been several months since the last "free"
chapter of the Cyberdrome Illustrated Novel was
uploaded to this site. Now, Alek Grey is back in
the first installment of the Cyberdrome Graphic
Novel. This version of the story is more
image-intensive than anything we have put out so
far, so download times may be long on very slow
connections. However, we are quite sure that will
be well worth the wait. October
07, 2004 Major
Site Update: The
entire Cyberdrome site was redesigned, with the
main page now organizing the many Cyberdrome
Projects into four simple categories. Anything you
can't find will probably be found in the new
Informational Database. The main page also gives
away the secret new project that the Rhea Brothers
have been working on for the past few weeks.
Also, be sure to
check out the newly redesigned Rhea-fx.com. If you
have never been there, you can find information on
the Rhea Brothers other projects, as well as learn
about their earlier Cyberdrome-based Games and
Simulations. As always, more
as it happens... October
02, 2004 Site
Update: As
our longtime readers know, every three months or so
we like to create a new Main Page for Cyberdrome.
Since we liked the new Grid Battle Wallpaper so
much, we decided to make it the new Main
Page. October
01, 2004 Media
Update: A
new desktop background/wallpaper has been uploaded
to the Media Downloads page. It is a sneak peak
from a scene later on in the story, showing a
battle about to take place on the Grid inside
Cyberdrome. A lone Tracer is about to be
attacked by four different Grid bugs. It is an
incredible image that gives you a glimpse of what
is yet to come. Like all our wallpapers, it is
available in a full range of resolutions, from
640x480 to 1600x1200. September
15, 2004 Site
Update: There
are now two ways to reach Cyberdrome -
www.Cyberdrome.org and the newly acquired
www.Cyberdrome.net. Take your pick... Other
News: In
addition to their continued work on Cyberdrome, the
Rhea Brothers designed their first
"outside" website this past month for
Admixtures Inc., of Irwindale, California. See the
site by going to ColorfullAdmixtures.com August
04, 2004 Site
Update: Discovered
10 new web sites that link directly to
Cyberdrome.org or list us on their site. We want to
thank everyone who links to us by returning the
favor and linking to them on our Gateway Links
page. Story
News: The
Rhea Brothers are currently working on something
new for the Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior page
that is described as "computer
graphics intensive!"
More CGI than an illustrated chapter, they
say, but less than an movie. What could it be? Stay
tuned and find out... July
16, 2004 Site
Update: Replaced
"Rotating Data" on main page with a link to
"The Real Cyberdrome" which showcases all of
the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating
the realistic world as depicted in the Cyberdrome
series. In addition, we joined several related
pages (see Gateway Links for example), and made a
separate link for the Image Gallery. Finally, we
replaced the top navigation banner on all pages
with an improved (and simpler) version. Clicking
the main logo on the left will take you back to the
main page, while the title text in the main window
will take you back one level. July
05, 2004 Site
Update: Cyberdrome.org
has undergone a major reformatting for the second
half of 2004. In addition to the new front page and
navigation menus, the content has been streamlined
dramatically. Story
News: The
first 15 chapters of Cyberdrome: Emergent
Behavior are back online, now in a new 3-part
downloadable (and printable) Adobe PDF format.
Included in this package is the never-before-seen
Chapter 15 called "Deceit". As you can guess from
the title, bad things happen in this chapter, so
click download the story now. Note: this file
is password protected to reduce unauthorized
distribution. The password is listed on the
download page, so write it down. The
Future: As
was mentioned previously, this installment
concludes the free preview of our book,
Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior. We hope you
have enjoyed the free content we have given you and
that you will check out the completed book when it
becomes available. Make sure you check back for
updates - who knows, we might even show you some
sneak peeks of later chapters in the book
(including pictures). May

News: The
first ALife form we created for the Grid, the
Raptor, has been given a face lift, namely, new
eyes. Learn more about the Raptor in the Enemy
ALife Section of the CYBERDROME Page. Then,
download new high-resolution background images
featuring the Raptor from the Background /
Wallpaper Section of the CYBERDROME
Page. Story
News: Act
1 of our science fiction novel;
Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior is now in final
draft form (meaning that it is finished). Joe is
now busy editing Acts 2 and 3, which will take a
few months, then he will get to work on completing
the final few scenes of Act 4. We plan to update
the online version of Cyberdrome: Emergent
Behavior with the now-complete first act sometime
next month. There will be a few changes from the
current version, mainly in the form of additional
information, so loyal fans will want to read this
new version when it arrives. For copyright and
security reasons, as well as to make the online
version easier to print and read off-line, the new
illustrated version of Act 1 will be available as
an Adobe PDF file. Look for the new version of
Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior sometime in
June. April

News: Dave
has completed his design of the final Artificial
Life Form (ALife) species for our science
fiction novel; Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior
well ahead of schedule. We call this new species a
"Mole", because it lives under the Grid and is able
to tunnel it's way through Cyberdrome memory. Learn
more about the Mole in the Enemy ALife Section of
the CYBERDROME Page. Then, download a new
high-resolution background image featuring the Mole
from the Background / Wallpaper Section of the
CYBERDROME Page. Site
News: The
Rhea-fx.com site received a new face lift. If you
haven't been there yet, stop by and check out the
two games that started the Cyberdrome revolution,
and meet the guys who created it all. March

News: Just
uploaded new information on the Mantis introduced
yesterday. Learn all about the Mantis in the Enemy
ALife Section of the CYBERDROME Page. This next month,
Dave will be working on the design of the last
ALife species that we have planned for
Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior: we call it
the Mole. The Mole possesses many of the same
characteristics as the three ALife species
introduced so far (Raptor, Spider, and Mantis). It
is rendered mechanically (like a robot) and it was
built from Grid material, just like the others. But
that is where the similarities end, because the
Mole lives under the Grid, and is able to consume
raw Grid material as it tunnels it's way through
memory. As usual, you will be given a few "sneak
peeks" of Dave's work as the design of the Mole
begins to materialize. Stay tuned. March

News: Dave
has completed his design of a new ALife
species for our science fiction novel;
Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior. We call it the
Mantis (for reasons which will be obvious when you
see it). To download a new high-resolution
background image featuring the Mantis, stop by the
Background / Wallpaper Section of the CYBERDROME
Page. February
20, 2004 New
Paths to Cyberdrome: Eleven
(11) more sites which link to our story,
Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior, have appeared on the
web, bringing the total number of "Paths to
Cyberdrome" to a whopping
74. February
11, 2004 Story
News: The
first ten scenes of our first book;
Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior, have been
submitted to the Online Writing Workshop for SF,
Fantasy & Horror (an online community of
writers). So far, the story is receiving excellent
reviews. CGI
News: Dave
has been working on another ALife species for
our story; Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior - it
is called a Mantis. It is not finished yet, but an
exclusive sneak peak of the Mantis, standing
alongside a Raptor, a Spider, a Tracer, and a
human, can be seen if you know where to
look. Site
News: Finally,
you might have noticed that the main index pages
for this site have changed once again. The original
full-screen background image was having problems on
some older browsers, so we changed it to a simpler,
but still nice, table-based layout. Also, there is
a line at the bottom of the index pages that says,
"This site is updated regularly - click here to see
what's new" - which will take you directly to
this page, without having to go through the
CYBERDROME section. More as it
happens... January
13, 2004 New
Paths to Cyberdrome: Three
more sites which link to our story, Cyberdrome:
Emergent Behavior, have popped up on the web,
bringing the total number of "Paths to Cyberdrome"
to 63. The new links are Alternate Universes,
Tiscali Search, and Michigan Teachers
Online. January
01, 2004 Welcome
to the New Year: There
are a several changes to the site for 2004. In
addition to the dramatic new look of the main menu
pages, some of the other pages have been changed or
reorganized, so take a few moments to look around.
Our Rhea-fx.com site has also undergone a 2004
makeover, making it look much more like the
Cyberdrome site. Also, the CGI images in our
illustrated version of Cyberdrome: Emergent
Behavior are now presented in widescreen (16:9)
format - the same format you will find on HDTV sets
and most DVD movies. Our
Goals for 2004: Our
main goal for this year is to finally pursue
outside publication of the first book in our
science fiction series, Cyberdrome: Emergent
Behavior. Following this, we hope to convince a
publisher to consider publishing an illustrated
version of our story. If, by the end of the year,
neither goal is successful, we plan to publish the
book ourselves, in both paper-based and various
electronic ebook formats. Either way, we hope that
those of you who have been following our story will
be rewarded with a complete novel by the end of the
year. History
of Cyberdrome: The
current incarnation of Cyberdrome: Emergent
Behavior was started on February 2001, so next
month will mark our three-year anniversary. We
began working on the original version off the story
over two years earlier in December of 1998, so this
past month marked our five-year anniversary for the
total story-writing project. Of course, all of this
was preceded by work on the Cyberdrome Simulator,
which started way back in 1985. Lets just say that
it has been a long and sometimes arduous journey,
but this year we should finally see fruition.
What
to expect this year: Finally,
we plan to continue uploading illustrated chapters
from the book as often as we can, but please
remember that our chief goal this year will be
publication, so new chapter uploads may not occur
as often as we would like. As always, we will
update this News and Updates page regularly to let
all of you know what is afoot. We hope you have
enjoyed the ride, and we hope you will stay tuned
for what is yet to come... |
