2000 The number of
visitors to the Rhea-fx web site passed 8000 this
month, and has been averaging about 20 visitors per
day lately. Beta-testers for the the Cyberdrome
Simulator were selected this month. We hope those
who were not selected will understand and we thank
them all for their offers of help. Again, thanks to
all volunteers. October
2000 Work continued on
the Cyberdrome Simulator and the page describing
the Artificial Life (ALife) programs
inhabiting the digital world we call Cyberdrome was
updated to match the current version of the
Cyberdrome Simulator. September
2000 Click here to see
the page showing off our Tactical Realtime Armored
Cyberdrome Enforcement Routine, or TRACER. The
TRACER program was updated to match the
current version of the Cyberdrome
Simulator. August
2000 The entire
Rhea-fx.com Web Site received a "Year 2000" face
lift. Now all pages include new top banner, plus a
detailed navigation bar (seen on the left side of
the page) to hep you get around our growing site.
Our Atari page (featuring the shareware version of
the Cyberdrome 3D simulator) was updated with
screen grabs taken from the Atari game - see it
here. An advanced screening of the long-awaited 7th
Chapter in our online science-fiction series
Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior is finally here! Drop
everything you're doing and read it
here. July
2000 Even more travel
- minimal web updates this month. June
2000 Lots of travel
this month - minimal web updates. May
2000 Emergent Behavior
just won a "Best Story Blue Ribbon" award from
BitBooks.com. ALife forms now given jobs! Read all
about it in the Simulator Progress Notes Page. We
are pleased to welcome the new lead character of
our online story Emergent Behavior. His name is
Alek Grey and he replaces our former lead, Roy
Cloudhopper. Roy felt he was becoming a "token
Indian" in our story, and we had to agree. We
wish him the best of luck as he pursues other
adventures. The name "Alek" is a Russian variation
of "Alexander" which means "defender of
mankind" which fits the lead in our story
quite well. Also, the last name "Grey" is similar
to the name of the lead character in Oscar Wilde's
"Picture of Dorian Gray", which is a story of a man
who extends his life by making a pact with the
devil. This is also a theme in the second half of
our story. Again, welcome Alek Grey. April
2000 Now that
I (Joe) am a member of the DelRey Books Online
Writing Workshop, I am in the process of
rewriting all chapters of the book-length version
of Emergent Behavior. This will not affect the
shorter, but illustrated online version of the
story (for now). However, I did merge what was
once called the "low bandwidth version" with the
"high bandwidth version" of the story, and
made into a single version. See it here March
2000 Changed the top
Menu Bar (see top of this page) to include the
10 most important pages in our site. Added a scan
of a 1993 review of our Atari Cyberdrome game from
issue #92 of the British magazine Atari ST User.
See it here. We added a new free download this
week. It is a binary file which allows you to play
our Atari shareware version of Cyberdrome on your
Windows 95/98/NT based PC. Requires a Windows-based
Atari Emulator such as WinSTon (shareware) which is
available from winston.atari.org. Check it out.
Write me if you need help installing anything. IT'S
HERE! Emergent Behavior Chapter 6 - 4870 words long
with 9 full color illustrations. Drop everything
you're doing and read it HERE February
2000 All three web
addresses; Rhea-fx.com, Cyberdrome.org, and
../cbd_story_1.org now take you to the same Rhea-Fx
Home Page. Artificial Life forms being programmed
to develop and use digital tools and to interact
with fractal terrain of Cyberdrome Grid! Read all
about it in Simulator Progress Notes. Chapter 6 of
Cyberdrome: Emergent Behavior is now finished (!!),
and at over 4,000 words, it is the longest chapter
written thus far. Illustrations are now being
created by Dave. Added more detailed definitions to
the Glossary page. Also, just to be different - we
added a "jump table" that will take you to every
Rhea-Fx page on this site with a single click - see
it at the bottom of the Site Map Page. January
2000 Artificial Life
forms now using Replicator technology to aid them
in battle! Read all about it in the Simulator
Progress Notes Page. The Rhea-Fx partnership
celebrates it's 10th anniversary this year (1990 to
2000). Artificial Life forms doubled in size - now
at 2000 individuals per sector! Read all about it
in the Simulator Progress Notes Page. New update to
the Simulator Progress Notes Page. |
