This non-profit, tax exempt, organization became "official" during February of 1996, forming out of the friendships that descendants developed through meeting at Plymouth, NC during its annual Living History Weekends, which began in 1991. Each year the number of descendants attending the weekend grew and with their participation the amount of information about the battle and its participants grew. Soon it became apparent that there was so much information available out there about the "Plymouth Pilgrims" that we needed to get organized; thereby making this information available to all who were interested.
With the formation of the society, and our quarterly newsletter, Voices from Plymouth, we are now able to send information to descendants all over the country, and in the process keep in touch with those who aren't able to attend events that we participate in.
The main event that we participate in is the Living History Weekend at Plymouth, NC. We have also participated in events at Andersonville and intend to plan events at other places of interest to the Plymouth Pilgrims as well.
Anyone who has an interest in the lives of these soldiers is welcome to join. Membership is not limited to descendants only, but we are a descendant based society. Your ancestor doesn't necessarily have to be one of the soldiers who fought at Plymouth either. We enjoy talking with anyone who has an interest in any of the soldiers whose regiments were involved at Plymouth, whether they served there or not. If you wish to find out more about the lives of these soldiers, or have questions concerning the society, feel free to contact Edward Boots, President, at EdBoots@worldnet.att.net.
We have two forms of membership.
Regular annual membership dues, which includes our quarterly printed and mailed newsletter, are $15. If you decide to receive your newsletter via the internet (a password protected web site) the dues are only $5. If you decide to go with web based membership, please send us your e-mail address. Also, if you are related to one of the soldiers who fought at Plymouth, please let us know his name and regiment.
Dues are payable to:

Membership is based on the calendar year. If you join in 2004, you will receive all of the newsletters for 2004, etc. If you join after Nov 1st, you will receive the last issue of the year as a sample newsletter and will be considered a member for the following year.
Our quarterly newsletter, Voices from Plymouth, includes insight into the lives of the Plymouth Pilgrims and items pertaining to the Battle of Plymouth and the surrounding area. Also included are items pertaining to their various prison experiences after the capture of Plymouth. The information contained in the newsletter comes from research by our Regimental Historians and other members of our society. Information is also included on upcoming events. We try to make our newsletter as educational as possible. If you have an article for the newsletter, please submit it to Edward Boots. Suggestions for the newsletter are always welcome. If you would like to have your ancestor's story printed in the newsletter, please limit it to one or two pages. These will be published on a first come first serve basis.
Back issues are available at a cost of $3.50 each. Please send your check & specific request to Scott Holmes. Some past newsletters & articles are included in the "Members Only" section of our webpage. Also, some of these items are already on line. Please follow the links to the appropriate sites.
