We are encamped in a valley & when

it commenced raining the water

began to run into the tents & the

boys began to dig ditches to carry

off the water, & some of the boys

had to move their tents to higher

grounds. The Union troops

continue to arrive in camp.

We heard that the 44th Ind. Regt.

had arrived in camp whether have

or not I cannot say. I have not seen

it yet.

There is not any more

prospect of a fight than there was

when we came here. The rebels have

destroyed the railroad bridge across

Green River so that we can not advance

on Bowling Green & there is no rebel

force worth naming within reach

of us. The health of our Regt. has been

pretty good thus far but I am afraid

there will be considerable sickness if

the weather continues wet & cold long.
