I was born in Brooklyn in 1947 and was an explorer as a kid in Houston. I put my parents (Dick and Maxine) and my sisters (Kim and Robin) through nightmares in Wagon Mound and Las Vegas, New Mexico. After a two-year military tour in Germany, I finally settled down with a wonderful wife (Arlene), a degree in mathematics, a son (Doug), and a 25-year challenging programming and analysis career with the State of New Mexico in Santa Fe.

Although I enjoyed my work, when retirement was available, the kid in me surfaced again, and I renewed my adventuring. In the spring of 1999 during heavy flooding, my father-in-law (Bob), Ted and I navigated the waterways from Chicago to Mobile (1280 miles) in an eighteen-foot Bayliner. It was a memorable three-week trip. My journal is at: http://a.emmons.home.att.net

Camping, sailing, canoeing, exploring mountain roads on dirt bikes, horseshoes, pool, music composition, the French horn, and computer games are but a few of the hobbies my family and I can’t spend enough time on. I often wonder how I could have put in a forty-hour workweek.
