Computer-Assisted
Instruction - Interactive Video Programs:
published by
Saudi Aramco, Southern Area Training Department, CAI-IV section of the
Job Skills Curriculum Development Unit, for proprietary use. 1982-1990.
Basic English Program: Reading comprehension for details - a series
of 50 computer-assisted instruction lessons with readings and comprehension
questions. After two unsuccessful tries at a question, the correct answer is
highlighted in the readings. User can toggle between the reading and question.
Process Loop Troubleshooting - computer-assisted instruction lessons
on setting safety controls on the Micon P-200 faceplate used to monitor conditions
in the gas-oil operating plants. User interacts with a computer simulation
of the actual equipment. Conditions are set by the goal of the specific
lesson.
Dental Hygiene: Identifying and Treating Stains - computer-assisted
instruction with interactive video lessons for the training of dental hygenists. Users
identify sources of dental stains pictured on slides viewed on videotape through
multiple-choice questions. Users observe video of correct treatment of
stain and answer multiple-choice questions about technique.
Driver Education Program - computer-assisted instruction lessons for
employees with driving violations. A series of 50 multiple choice questions
with brief explanations given for incorrect answers. Users must answer
all questions correctly before the program finishes.
Meeting in Progress: Holding Successful Business Meetings - computer-assisted
instruction with interactive video for department leaders. Users view
through video a business meeting with pauses at specific times. Users
answer questions about the next step at that point of the meeting through computer.
Basic Electricity -
computer-assisted instruction lessons that cover the basics of series
and parallel circuits. Users review basic material through
computer after in-class instruction. Answers indicate user's
degree of concept mastery.
