What about freezing damage?

With standard cryonic procedures, ice crystals form between the cells. Vitrification on the other hand retards the formation of ice crystals.

Don't you just have a strawberry mush?

This as well as the "hamburger" analogy is erroneous. The can (in this case, the dewar) isn't going to be opened just yet.  Cryonics provides the means to get a person to a time when medical technology can repair and revive the person. (PERIOD).

What's up with drilling holes in the head?

These are very small holes. The purpose is to check the cryoprotectant in the brain, and to facilitate temperature probes.

What's this about the head cracking up?

The cracks are miniscule fractures caused by thermal stress.

Why hang them upside down like bats in a cave?

Whole body patients are inserted into the dewar in a head down position.  This adds a safety precaution should the liquid Nitrogen supply leak.  The head will be the last thing to be exposed.  Remember the brain is the most important part of a person.

What's going to put the Humpty Dumpty snowman back together again?

More than likely it will be mature level nanotechnology.  Nanotechnology is now in its infancy.
