Tropicana

On some of the other pages I've mentioned the "rogue" rose clearance sale that some of the plants in my garden were purchased from. For a considerable discount Jackson and Perkins sells some of the bare root stock that didn't make the full price piles. It may take a year or so for the plants to become the size of the others, but with the discount it's worth the wait. When the box came one of the roses I ordered was Tropicana. After taking all the plants out to soak them before planting I thought they hadn't shipped the Tropicana. All of the bushes were in water, the only thing left in the box was a broken piece of rose bush with a tag on it. You guessed it, the twig of a bush was the Tropicana. It's took it's time growing, but the small bright orange flowers were worth the wait. By the end of it's first year it was still on the smallish side, but had grown to be 22 inches tall. The canes were still small.
