Beautiful red or red-pink blooms about 4 1/2 to five inches across on stems a little over a foot long came from this plant very early in the season. Indeed, it was planted as a bareroot in April, and it was the first of the many roses planted then to flower. The flowers have a traditional rose scent, and the pointed pedals open perfectly. The flowers open at an incredible rate of speed, one morning the bud looked as if it was still too tight to pick, the same afternoon it was fully opened. Unaffected by blackspot, the plant grew to 33" tall and 27" wide. Unfortunately, the plant wilted considerably with the early summer hot weather and never really was as prolific as the other roses. Once September came around and the weather cooled off it started flowering again. |
