John F Kennedy

John F Kennedy was a new rose to the garden in 1998, it was part of the Jackson and Perkins rogue clearance sale in May. The rogue plants are the "runts" they couldn't sell at full price. The bush is growing well, although it was a bit slower then the others it was planted with to get started. It grew to 42" tall and 25" wide very quickly once it started. The first buds didn't show any signs of growth for a full two weeks after the rest of the plants it came with did, I thought it was dead. Beautiful white flowers came out of nowhere, and it flowered at the same time as all the other plants it was planted with. The whitest of white flowers are very strongly contrasted by the deepest green leaves you could imagine. Excellent as a cut flower, it produced flowers on a monthly basis it's first season. It was also the first plant to attract a beetle, so keep your eyes on it. |
