French Lace

On the smallish size, French Lace is still a very beautiful rose. The color is hard to decide, is it a very light cream or a slightly shaded white? The tiny buds with the ruffled petals surprise you as they open up to beautiful flowers fully four inches across when completely open. They have a very pleasing rose scent, and the dark green leaves were not affected by black spot or any other diseases. The plant is a good producer, quickly growing buds to replace the cuttings. Flower production will slow down to nothing in the middle of summer heat, but once September rolls around you will start getting flowers on a daily basis again. Around labor Day the plant had tripled it's height since the beginning of August.

The stems are very thorny in this 46" tall and 19" wide plant. The flowers are beautiful as cut flowers. Unfortunately, this one was a victim to the very cold winter and didn't make it through the 99-2000 winter. I will probably get another one at some point.
