What is a Key West Conch

(pronounced Konk)
In the early 1800's Bahamians began immigrating to Key West. These immigrants were called Conchs. Why they were called Conch's depends on who you ask. Perhaps they were named after the large sea snail they like to eat called Conch. Maybe they were named after the horn they made out of the Conch shell.
