Parachutist Medical Pouches (submitted by Alain Batens)
Description: 1 X Rectangular Pouch, made out of Olive-Drab Canvas, consisting of 3 separate compartments, with individual flap closure, as well as one large overall protecting flap, practically covering the major part of the pouch, the item is usually worn on, the chest (for easy access), the back is reinforced with diagonal cross-strap webbing, which is used as adjustable shoulder suspenders, these can be hooked into the D-rings located behind the 2 external pouches, the rear part is provided with 2 olive-drab leg ties Remark: this is Stock No. 74-P-284 (Army item), the Army Service Forces Catalog QM-3-1, Quartermaster Supply Catalog, May 1946 describes it as follows Pouch with adjustable shoulder straps, which may be worn on the chest or back, to carry medical supplies NOTE:: this item was probably used for the first time during "Operation Varsity" 24 March 1945 contents unknown if someone can help with this any data are welcome !
( Bag, Medical, Parachutist period 1944 from the collection of Alain Batens) Description: 1 X Rectangular Bag, probably Rigger-made, made out of Olive-Drab Canvas, with flap closure with 2 straps in front, reinforced & foreseen with olive-drab back diagonal cross-strap webbing that can be used as a shoulder strap, and which terminates with a snap-hook, the flap is adorned with the std. medical emblem, i.e. a Red Caduceus, on a white circular background, with U.S. ARMY + MEDICAL DEPARTMENT in red lettering, the rear part is provided with 2 olive-drab leg ties Remark: contents unknown (it was empty, when I purchased it)
