From L to R and horizontally: 1 X Khaki Canvas Pouch w/Cotton Ties, 1 X Insect Repellent, 1 X Frazer’s Solution (empty), 2 X Water Purification Tablets, 2 X Atabrine Tablets, 1 X Foot Powder, 1 X Iodine, 1 X Adhesive Plaster, 1 X Packet Sulfadiazine Tablets, 1 X Adhesive Gauze Bandage w/16 Stickbands, 2 X Aspirin Tablets, 1 X Small First-Aid Dressing (please note use of Glass Bottles & Glass and Hard Rubber Vials)

Missing item: 1 X Sodium Chloride Tablets (Salt) Remark: all items fit in individual compartments, the kit itself is rolled-up & secured by means of the attached cotton ties

Contents of Jungle First-Aid Individual Equipment

(Period 1942-1944)

NOTE: this kit is supplied to each soldier in jungle areas, it is carried in a compartment of the jungle pack (waterproof rucksack) . The 1st pattern kit is made out of lightweight khaki canvas and can be rolled-up for easy stowing . It is rectangular in shape, contains 17 separate compartments, and closes with cotton ties .

NOTE: Later modifications probably entailed replacement of certain items by others . The above kit was later replaced (1943-44) by an olive drab canvas model 2nd pattern, which hooked into the individual’s belt (more accessible), i.e. the Kit, Jungle, Medical, Individual, M-2, item #97109 (w/different contents of course) .

Above kit was manufactured by Davis Emergency Equipment Co. Inc.

FM 21-11 First Aid For Soldiers April 7, 1943 states … this kit is supplied to each soldier in jungle areas
