"For many years, ladies and gentlemen, we Welshmen as fellow Celts have always been the poor relation as far as the kilt is concerned. Scotland has the kilt; Ireland has the kilt; Wales has never been allowed to wear the kilt -- until now.
For the first time this evening, (you'll see there are four spaces on the stage), and this is the first time outside Wales these have been displayed, and it is a very special tribute to this choir that they've been asked to wear them in this very special Welsh night.
So I'd like to invite the four choristers on and you will now see the new Welsh costume for the male figure: ladies and gentlemen, our Welsh tartan."
You may like to know that each kilt, jacket and sock bears the St David's Flag emblem.
