Rumor has it that the entrance interview at the Pearly Gates will be given
entirely in Welsh!
Well, if that's the case then I need all the help I can
get.
How about you?
No prior knowledge or prerequisite is needed, just bring the desire to
learn a bit of the oldest living language in Europe. We are not a formally
accredited school and there is no final exam to pass...and that means you
can't possibly fail!
The class is free to all members of the Colorado Welsh Society.
If you are not yet a member you may join at the first class session.
There are 2 levels of instruction and textbooks will be available for sale
at the 1st class session.
1)
The beginners class (taught by Trefor Roberts) starts with the Welsh
alphabet and sounds. It is scheduled to complete the first 9 chapters of
the text and is designed to establish a firm understanding of basic
textbook grammer.
The slightly different "spoken" Welsh is presented as well with the help
of a series of video presentations where you will listen to a wide variety
of native speakers from various parts of the country.
2)
The intermediate class (taught by Elis Owens) picks up where the
beginning class left off and continues with more complex grammar structures, more in-depth
conversation practice.
They have been overheard discussing the fine art of brewing
beer, I'm told.
The new term begins on
Tuesday September 25th 2007.
Mark your calendars.
We meet once per week and begin study at 7 PM. Class lasts for an hour and
a half after which both sections get together for refreshments (te bach).
Class location is at the Archdiocese of Denver which is the south most building
on the John Paul II Center located at 1300 South Steel Street in Denver.
Visitor parking is located at the south end of this large multi block fenced campus.
The guard at the security station in the Archdiocese lobby will have room assignments
and can give you directions.
Consider joining us this fall.
