Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI® Step II Form Q)

Many people believe that all human beings are ruled by the same basic desires, motivations, and instincts, yet that assumption can lead to considerable misunderstanding among people.

In reality, we see both similarities and differences that exist among people's actions and desires, and we see ourselves as more like some people than others.

Since then, we must frequently work with others who are different from us, how do we find a practical way to understand these basic differences so that we can work better together?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a useful and practical tool for understanding the differences of others.

What is the MBTI?

The MBTI is a short 30-minute questionnaire based on the personality type theories of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. It was created so that individuals could recognize and appreciate their preferred ways of interacting with others.

Why is it important to know my Type?

The importance of the MBTI lies in exploring how different people relate to one another. What impact does the personality of one coworker have on another in the work setting? How is personality related to leadership and management, teaching and learning?

The most widely used personality inventory in the world, the MBTI® instrument provides an accurate picture of a person’s personality type. The MBTI® instrument determines preferences on four dichotomies:

Extraversion–Introversion:
describes where people prefer to focus their attention and get their energy—from the outer world of people and activity or their inner world of ideas and experiences

Sensing–Intuition:
describes how people prefer to take in information—focused on what is real and actual or on patterns and meanings in data

Thinking–Feeling:
describes how people prefer to make decisions—based on logical analysis or guided by concern for their impact on others

Judging–Perceiving:
describes how people prefer to deal with the outer world—in a planned orderly way, or in a flexible spontaneous way

Combinations of these preferences result in 16 distinct personality types. Understanding characteristics unique to each personality type, provides insight on how they influence an individual’s way of communicating and interacting with others.

The MBTI® Step II (Form Q) instrument drills down and details 20 facets of the preferences for more in-depth personality type understanding. Arm yourself with the MBTI® instrument and start transforming lives.

What are the benefits of the MBTI?

After completing the MBTI, participants can expect to:

· Identify their personality preferences and how theses preferences are similar to and different than others.

· Develop an understanding to help sharpen their communication skills.

· Discover how to make constructive use of their natural talents and gain a greater appreciation of the diversity of others.
