Recommended Math Resources

The three books below are excellent resources for teaching math using a problem-based approach. What I loved about them was how much I learned about the way students develop mathematical understandings from an early age. As a fifth grade teacher, I don't get to experience those early stages of mathematics learning, but I see now that those stages are critical. Now I realize that I need to go back to those beginnings if students never learned the concept properly. In each book there are hundreds of simple strategies that you can implement right away, and the ideas are broken down by content area. The book also comes with a link to a website with blackline masters. If you only buy one math book this year, buy one of these!
