ClearDome Solar Thermal
Captures and stores the sun’s free heat to use now or later for your personal comfort
Imagine the joy of being
able to store the sun’s free and pure heat energy in a non-toxic flexible
pad, then feel the stored warmth for 45 minutes minutes or more to warm
your bed, back, feet or hands--not once, but twice.
Once the pad is heat charged by the sun, microwave or stove top,
and it's clear (photo at left), you can actually re-activate the stored heat
again weeks, months or years later with a click of the heat activator button,
seen at the top left corner.
Once again, you’ll feel
soothing, constant 125-130°F solar generated warmth for 45 to 90 minutes
even when the pad has sat at room temperature.
The Soothing Sun Pad from ClearDome Solar Thermal will again be available on this web page when it becomes available in late October, 2007. Our cold weather SolaReflex Survival Cacoon is nearing the end of it's protoype testing and is expected be available by winter, 2007.

This durable 6" x 10" OR 8 X 8" by 1" thick solar charged heating pad is safe and very easy to use. And it can be reused every day for six months or more. Solar recharging only takes 1.5-2 hours of bright sun exposure in our top quality SolaReflex AA Octagon Parabolic Cooker, available from our web pages at www.cleardomesolar.com On cloudy days or at night, you can also recharge the Sun Pad by placing it in a metal pan of boiling water for 20-30 minutes on your stove, or in your microwave oven set on medium for 15 minutes when covered with water inside the optional heat resistant recharge pan.
Sun Pad outlasts and keeps
a more constant, longer lasting heat level than every other type of rechargable
heat storage device used today. No other heating pad is desiged to capture
and store solar energy. This heating pad is so reliable that numerous
fire, lifeguard and rescue squads in Canada and the USA have been using
a similar a type of thermal storage pad for years to treat hypothermia
and injured people.
The key ingredient of this
amazing product has been proven around the world to be the most efficient,
reliable heat storage medium available. It’s a biodegradable product used
in many foods, and recharges without losing it's long-lasting thermal storage
qualities.
It only takes about 20
seconds for all of the clear heating fluid to transform into small white
crystals as the photos demonstrate below. During the transformation, heat
energy is restored by a natural, safe chemical reaction inside the pad.
It's that simple. The fluid to crystal, back to fluid cycle can be repeated
an unlimited number of times as long as the pad reaches over 140 degrees
long enough for all of the crystals return to the fluid state. All types
of salts are known to be the best means of heat storage, but this unique
blend has been created to reach and store safe temperatures for personal
use on demand.
The contents are completely
safe even if the pad is accidentally opened. After excessive use the pad
can be discarded in regular trash if there are any signs of leakage. The
medical grade plastic and heating medium are biodegradable.
As the Sun Pad liquid crystalizes, 130 degree F internal heat is instantly
generated. The optional Sun
Pad solar and microwave
heat recharger pan is made of unbreakable and heat resistant polycarbonate plastic. The black box and removable clear lid is made of food
safe, heat resistant plastic that's safe and non-toxic at all temperatures.
On partly cloudy or very cold days when the pad is solar heated but not fully
charged, warmth will remain in the pad for an hour or more, but unless
all the crystals turn completely clear the pad can't be activated later until it gets
a full recharge. A full recharge occurs only when the heating fluid is
completely clear. It should be stored and activated in temperatures above 38 degrees F, but can be used in freezing temps.
Our Octagon Parabolic cooker will recharge the pad in about 2 hours on sunny days by placing it on the heat absorber pad.
Water does need to be added
to the optional heating pan when solar recharging. Adding water for microwave or stovetop recharging improves pad recharging by better
dispersing the heat and helps sanitize the pad with high temperatures.
The water and Sun Pad inside the box will rise
to over 150 degrees, hot enough to transform the salt crystals back into
the clear and charged fluid state.
Besides the sun, other
heat sources will also charge Sun Pad, but you must follow directions carefully
to prevent any heat damage to the pad.
Microwave
and stove top Sun Pad recharging is fastest To charge in boiling water
on a stove at home or on a camping stove, a clean metal pan is filled with
2" of water, then the Sun Pad is placed inside. Once the water boils, it
only takes 20-30 minutes on a slow boil for a full heat recharge. Caution:
Heating the pad in a metal pan on the stove or in the microwave with no
water will destroy the pad because it will cause the plastic to melt and
leak. The pad must be discarded if it leaks.
For microwave recharging,
water should also cover the pad inside the pan and the microwave must be
set on medium, never high. Too much microwave heat will damage the pad.
The plastic heating box cannot be used over a flame but it is safe in both
the microwave oven and our solar heating pan recharger.

What is
it and what makes it hot on demand?
The internal heating fluid
is a special blend of a type of food grade salt that's highly saturated in pure water,
encapsulated inside a sealed heavy duty, clear non-toxic plastic container.
When the pad has been fully heat charged it looks like clear water (top
pad), and it stays clear even after it cools. Store it in a drawer, on
a shelf or in your car until you need it again. Once the internal metal
heat activation button (top left side in the photos below) is snapped,
the clear fluid quickly transforms into small white salt crystal granules
and in an instant, you'll feel 130 degree F warmth.
