Does your outdoor spa or animal water trough receive enough direct sunlight to use these unique ClearDome Solar Hot Tub/Spa Water Heating Pads?

ClearDome Solar Spa Pads
This round outdoor below ground spa in San Diego, California is
well suited for using ClearDome Solar Spa pads throughout the year.
Our first generation twin-walled polycarbonate spa pads are shown here
and the new, more affordable single layer flexible pads are shown below.
The twin-wall pads are best for defrosting ice water in animal troughs.

Thanks for considering our new money-saving solar water heating Spa Pads that float on the water surface and allow free solar energy in to heat the water while trapping heat energy by eliminating evaporation. After over a year of successful beta testing, and over three years of continuous use by many customers around the USA, these unique unbreakable and bendable second generation clear panels have been proven sucessful for home hot tubs up to 8', small inflatable pools for children, and any other open water container exposed to full sunlight.

To see if your spa can use these pads, please consider these points:

First, make sure your spa or small pool is located outdoors in a sunny area that receives at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight in late spring, summer and early fall. Shadows from trees or buildings will slow or stop heating, so check at different times during the day to determine that there is no excessive sun blockage.

We suggest using these heating pads in spas under 8 feet across because they are better suited to smaller pools.  Normally two or more pads are connected to each other using our UV resistant plastic connectors, which makes them easier to install and remove. Spas over 8' will need more pads than is easy to install and remove.

The whole process, from the time we confirm payment  through Amazon.com to the shipping day will take about 2-4 weeks with our present work schedule.

Once you decide if these pads will work for your spa, click on the proper PayPal order links below to place your order.

For maximum daytime heating the water should be covered with the pads all or most of the day. In warm areas with ample sunlight the water can reach over 107 degrees F, so shade or partial pad openings is advised to moderate water temperatures.

Before you decide to order, you'll need make and to send us a water surface template, described below.

Here's how to make your water surface template for the twin-wall pads for animal water troughs.

Unless your spa is perfectly square or round, with no vents or poles touching the water surface, you'll need  to send us a water surface template to accurately cut the 40" x 48" single or connected pads. When connected, the pads should overlap 2" on each side. To make template, you'll need a large piece of thin transparent plastic that you can mark using a dark waterproof marking pen. Most hardware stores carry inexpensive folded painter's drop cloths made of semi-clear plastic that can cover the entire top surface of your spa or pool. Here's how you do it:

 1. Pull the sheet of plastic tight over the top of the spa, then tape down each corner so the plastic is pulled tight. Using a waterproof  marking pen, trace the outline of the water surface by looking straight down into the water from above.

2. Untape the plastic and cut out the form, then fold it and pack it into a large mailing envelope and send it to us at:

3. Click on the PayPal order links below to place you order for single or multiple twinwall pads to defrost frozen water in animal stock tanks.

Note: To order the spa pads that are made to defrost and warm frozen water in animal stock tanks 2x4' and smaller, please use the first link for the single twin-wall polycarbonate plastic sheets. Tell us what type of animal will be drinking so we know how large the drinking hole should be on the edge of the pad.

The second or third links are for larger spas or tanks that require multiple connected pads, each 2' wide. We'll need your water surface template, explained above, before cutting the pad to fit your tank. Measure the widest distance across your spa or tank to decide if the 6' or 8' and smaller pads are needed.

Once your pads payment is confirmed through PayPal and your water surface template is received by us if you prefer to have us cut them for you, it will take about 2-4 weeks to complete your pads and ship by Fedex. We will cut the pads to fit your template, attaching the right amount of of pads with the connectors.

For proper pad use, you'll need a good quality water thermometer that reads accurately. For safe soaking, the temperature should be below 104 degrees F when in use. When the pads are on the water surface for daytime heating, the pump should be off and the pads in place to generate the heat. This also saves on electricity costs since daytime pumping will be more expensive than night time use. In summer your spa heater should be set for at least two degrees below the normal set temperature so it only comes on after numerous cloudy days.

If you normally to use a top thick insulated cover at night, you'll find that in warm summer months, you won't need to use it if the spa pads are in place.  All of our beta tests have shown just few degrees lost overnight with insulated spas when only our pads are on the water.
