About Claiborne Parish -- Population, Economic Trends

The Claiborne Parish Watershed District, by state law, is all of Claiborne Parish. Its commissioners are appointed by the Police Jury. It's purposes, by state law, are:

  • To protect and develop natural resources for the health, economic, and recreational benefit of the parish; and
  • To manage Lake Claiborne for those same benefits.

At this Website you will find information about:

  • Claiborne Parish Watershed District
  • Natural Resources -- especially water resources
  • Regulations, state and local, related to lake activities and to the protection of natural resources

Change is always on the horizon. Inevitably change will be focused on our water resources. Many private entities and various levels of government are involved in activities that have an impact upon our water resources. Claiborne Parish Watershed District has statutory responsibility to see that resources are protected and developed in the public interest. Informed citizens working with the Watershed District can help ensure that activities are coordinated with local interests.
