Classic Rock Lyrics

Trampled Under Foot Lyrics - Led Zeppelin

Greasy slicked down [body], groovy leather trim
I like the way you hug the road, mama, it ain't no sin.

Talkin' 'bout love,
Talkin' 'bout love
Talkin' 'bout

Ooh, trouble free transmission, hot your oil's flow,
Mama let me pump your gas, Mama let me do it all.

Talkin' 'bout love, huh
I’m talkin' 'bout love, oh
Talkin' 'bout

Check that heavy metal underneath your hood
Baby, I can work all night believe I’ve got the proper tools.

Talkin' 'bout love,
Talkin' 'bout love
Talkin' 'bout

Automobile with cover, really built with [in] style
Specialist tradition, mama let me feast my eyes.

Talkin' 'bout love,
Talkin' 'bout love
Talkin' 'bout

Factory air conditioned, heat begins to rise,
Guaranteed to run for hours, Mama, you're [and] the perfect size.

Talkin' 'bout love,
Talkin' 'bout love
Talkin' 'bout

Groovin' on the freeway, gauges are all [on the] red
Gun down on my gasoline,
Believe I’m gonna crack your head.

Talkin' 'bout love,
Talkin' 'bout love
Talkin' 'bout

I can't stop talkin' about
I can't stop talkin' about,
ooh yeah-yeah, yes, drive on.

Ooh, yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yes,
I’m comin’ through!

Come to me for service every hundred miles
Baby, let me check your points, fix your overdrive.

Talkin' 'bout love,
Talkin' 'bout love
Talkin' 'bout

Ooh yes, fully automatic, comes in any size
Makes me wonder what I did, before we synchronized.

Talkin' 'bout love,
Talkin' 'bout love
Talkin' 'bout

Oh, feather-light suspension, Koni's couldn't hold,
I'm so glad I took a look inside you showroom doors.

Talkin' 'bout love,
Talkin' 'bout love
Talkin' 'bout

Oh yeah, oh yeah.
I can't stop talkin' about love
I can't stop talkin' about love
Oh, let me go on down, go on down,
Go on down, go on down, yeah.
I can't stop talkin' about
I can't stop talkin' about love, hey!
I can't stop talkin' about love, oh my baby,
I can't stop talkin' about love, my baby,
My baby, my baby, yeah.
Push, push, push, yeah.
Push, push, push.  Oooh.

There are some I'm still not sure of, eg in The Ocean it isn't "high hopes hailla ball", more like "I got a date, I can't be late for the hellhound headin' forth " but still not certain about this.

Also Walters Walk, another difficult one:

Ooh know I feel's so strange lookin' at the door,
Ah oh, tryin' hard to change and can't let go.
Oh cyrin' tears of pain hurtin' more an' more
Oh everyday's the same as you walk the floor.

I'm walkin' the floor over you,
I'm walkin' the floor.

Every heart that breaks is a heart that's cold,
Oh to the hand that takes your dreamless soul.
Ah is it long to wait?  Is there much to pay?
Oh ah sometimes it's hard waitin' for the day.

You know it's hard, I said it's hard, you know it's true.
I said it's hard, you know it's hard, still know it’s true.

Every tear that falls is a smile that's lost.
When you hear the call can you count the cost?
And you stand alone, do you wonder how?
Can you step aside?  Does it matter now?

Every love that shares (every love that shares)
  spend it fully
In the eyes of the night (in the eyes of the night)
Was it hard to see (was it hard to see)?
In the day everything will (in the day everything will) smile and grow
So you fight the tears, enter Walters Walk.

Know it's true, now,
You know it true now, whoh-yeah.

I'm walkin' the floor over you,
I'm walking the floor.

Every tear that falls is a smile that's lost.
When ya hear the call can you count the cost?
As you stand alone do you wonder how?
Can you step aside, does it matter now?

Does it matter now?
Does it?
Now does it matter?
Now does it matter?

Ooh yeah!
Ooh yeah!
Ooh little baby don't you know?

Every tear that falls, does it matter now?
Does it matter now?  Oh yeah!
Oh yeah!  Oh yes!  Oh yes!

The lyrics were based on Robert Johnson's 1936 "Teraplane Blues."
Robert Plant used car parts as metaphors for sex - "pump your gas," "rev all night," etc.
One of Plant's favorite Zeppelin songs. He sang it on his 1988 Now and Zen tour.
Evolved out of a jam session.
Became a concert favorite and a popular song on Rock radio.
Performed at Carmen Plant's 21st birthday party in 1989 with Jason Bonham on drums. Carmen is Robert's daughter.
