I Will Lyrics

Lennon/McCartney

Who knows how long I've loved you
You know I love you still
Will I wait a lonely lifetime
If you want me to--I will.

For if I ever saw you
I didn't catch your name
But it never really mattered
I will always feel the same.

Love you forever and forever
Love you with all my heart
Love you whenever we're together
Love you when we're apart.

And when at last I find you
Your song will fill the air
Sing it loud so I can hear you
Make it easy to be near you
For the things you do endear you to me
You know I will
I will.

Anomalies

Starts with a click. Maybe Ringo tapped out the count in, and it couldn't be trimmed without cutting into the "Who" at the start of the song.
Not audible on CD version.

Paul McCartney wrote this about Linda Eastman, who later became his wife. It was the first song he wrote about her.
In the televised documentary The Beatles Anthology, Paul, George and Ringo are shown relaxing on a blanket outside. Ringo asks Paul what he wrote in India and Paul answers, "I Will." Then George begins playing this on his ukulele while he and Paul harmonize with it. (thanks, Adrian - Wilmington, DE)
McCartney sang the bass part instead of playing it with an instrument.
John Lennon and George Harrison did not play on this. During The White Album sessions, The Beatles often recorded in separate studios. (thanks, Christine - Golden, CO)
67 takes were recorded. The 65th was used.
