In the horn solo, a punch-in occurs. A glitch in the sustained tone before the final flourish gives it away. It has been suggested that this was a playing technique of the hornist, as it also happens in the Give My Regards To Broadstreet version.

In The Complete Beatles Chronicle, Lewisohn says that the hornist, Alan Civil , recorded the whole solo eight times, wiping over the tape with every try. No punch-ins or edits.

Paul McCartney wrote this when he was skiing in Switzerland.
When he heard the title, Alan Civil, who played the French Horn on this, thought this was an orchestral piece called "For No. One" (thanks, chet - saratoga springs, NY)
McCartney used this in his 1984 movie Give My Regards to Broad Street.
The original title was "Why Did It Die?"
This was recorded on May 9, 16 and 19, 1966 by only two Beatles - Paul singing and playing the keyboard and bass, and Ringo on percussion. (thanks, Dominic - Pittsburgh, PA)
