Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! Lyrics

Lennon/McCartney

For the benefit of Mr. Kite
There will be a show tonight on trampoline
The Hendersons will all be there
Late of Pablo Fanques Fair-what a scene
Over men and horses hoops and garters
Lastly through a hogshead of real fire!
In this way Mr. K. will challenge the world!
The celebrated Mr. K.
Performs his feat on Saturday at Bishopsgate
The Hendersons will dance and sing
As Mr. Kite flys through the ring don't be late
Messrs. K and H. assure the public
Their production will be second to none
And of course Henry The Horse dances the waltz!
The band begins at ten to six
When Mr. K. performs his tricks without a sound
And Mr. H. will demonstrate
Ten summersets he'll undertake on solid ground
Having been some days in preparation
A splendid time is guaranteed for all
And tonight Mr. Kite is topping the bill.

Anomalies

0:54 * NEW *
Accidental hit of the ride cymbal. Also hinted as Ringo losing the drumming pattern and trying to catch up.
1:24 * NEW *
Tambourine/Hi-hat combination missed for one beat (listen to left channel, drops in "impact" for the first beat of the pair)
1:44
Someone either punched out or faded out the beginning of the line "Having been some days ..." leaving "...ving been"

John Lennon got the lyrics from a poster for an 1843 circus. He found the poster in an antique shop while they were shooting a promotional film for "Strawberry Fields Forever."
Lennon: "I was just going through the motions because we needed a new song for Sgt. Pepper."
George Harrison and Ringo Starr played harmonicas. It also featured a steam organ, which was taken from old tapes.
Was going to come after the title track on the album, but they decided to use "With A Little Help From My Friends," sung by the fictional Billy Shears, so that the concept of the album would continue.
It was rumored that "Henry The Horse" was heroin. "Horse" is slang for heroin, but Lennon denied that it was a drug reference.
