Welcome to Chuck Divine's Home Page

I've created this page to greet visitors to my site. It's a work in progress.

These days I'm starting this page with things from my serious side. I'm involved again with the aerospace industry. It's just as a volunteer so far, but I think that will change. Anyway, here are some of the the groups I'm somewhat active with:

I'm busy with a variety of amusing and interesting activities. I took up hashing in 1998. What's hashing? It's an activity for deranged runners. We're known as "The Drinking Club with a Running Problem." To find out more about us, check out our local Web pages. You can go to Flying Booger's site for a look at world wide hashing. For those of you who haven't had the good fortune, Flying Booger's a really great guy. I've hashed in the U.S., England and France so far. If you've half a mind to join us, that's all you need. You might also check out my Red Dress Run pictures:

The Red Dress Run is a real howl!

Here are some other recent events:

I'm now including some accounts of my various hash adventures:

Another source of amusement these days is Mensa. I've just taken on the role of Membership Officer for Metropolitan Washington Mensa. I hope to make both the local Mensa group and larger Mensa organizations stronger and healthier than they already are. Anyway, here are some links to Mensa:

When I'm not hashing or being involved in Mensa, I pursue my hobby of science fiction art. I now do computer image manipulation.

I've even done a bit of SF writing of sorts. A few years back I got one of those annoying e-mails from Nigeria. You know, the kind that offer you a piece of the action in exchange for your bank account. Anyway, I responded -- but not as Chuck Divine. I responded as Chuck, Vulcan Senator, Ambassador Plenipotentiary to Earth, Federation of Sentient Planets. I've put my part of the whole correspondence up as the Ambassador Chuck e-mails. Enjoy, or not, as you desire. It's not costing you anything but your time.

Still in the SF/space vein, I've now written (or to be more honest about it modified) a song! Remember Burt Rutan's Space Ship One? Of course you do. Remember Janis Joplin's "Mercedes Benz"? I hope you do. If you don't, you really did take too many drugs in the 60s!. Anyway, with a little help from Janis, I've come up with a paean to Space Ship One! It's called Rutan Spaceship! I hope you get a kick out of it!

Finally, check out Slashdot. My user name is ChuckDivine.

Not bored yet? I'm also involved in other stuff as well. For example:

Finally, I'm doing a bit of consulting. Part of me wonders whether I should look for a work again in a more corporate setting. I've created two resumes:
