Amperex ECC88 6DJ8 Bugle Boy Blow Out

I just ran across a large number of Amperex Bugle Boy ECC88 6DJ8 Tubes. These were all pulled from Military Equipment and test very strong, many test as new. They were all made in the Neerlen Factory in Holland and have the “Neerlen” code etch in the glass tube envelope, a small right angle triangle preceding the factory code numbers.

Audio tube dealers are selling used tubes that test “good” from $40.00 and up, they are selling tubes that test at the 50% borderline for $15.00. The reason they are getting so expensive is because of the way they sound. According to my customers, “Great tube. wide and deep soundstage, a lot of air and ambience, not as fast and dynamic as some of the other Amperex types. Bass is a little warm and rolled off, but very sweet and non fatiguing.” Currently it is in great demand, with the price going up. Certainly a “To Try”. Excellent in line level and amplifier applications. Can be a little noisy in Phono Stage and CD applications, but it can be Magic.

I sell these tubes at three prices based on the condition of their Labels. In this batch, the tubes with poor labels test as good as the ones with good labels. Be aware that the paint used to silk screen the labels has deteriorated and if you use a cloth to wipe a tube clean, your label may be gone.

My normal prices are $27.00 each with a Good Label, $24.00 each with a fair label(50%+) and $22.00 each with a poor label. I charge $4.00 more for a matched pair, so Matched Pairs are $58.00 - Good Label, $52.00 – Fair Label, $48.00 – poor label.
