Following is a detailed guideline for the Bookmark sharing process:
Close the browser
Back up the bookmarks.html file
Create a folder for the shared Bookmarks file (bookmarks.html)
As an example: create a C:\Bookmarks folder
In Netscape 7.2, SeaMonkey, and in Firefox, this
setting can be created in about:config:
Clear the Location Bar, and type in: about:config
Right click anywhere on the page and select: New
Click on: String
Enter: browser.bookmarks.file
Enter this Value: C:\Bookmarks\bookmarks.html
(or whatever file location and name that you created)
OR, if you prefer:
To the Firefox, SeaMonkey, and the Netscape prefs.js files, add this script:
user_pref("browser.bookmarks.file", "C:\\Bookmarks\\bookmarks.html");
This points the Firefox, SeaMonkey, and Netscape profiles to the shared
bookmarks folder.
NOTE: double back slashes in the bookmarks.html path.
CAUTION: back up your prefs.js file before editing.
Windows XP users should point the Administrator Account to the Limited
User Account:
Clear the Location Bar, and type in: about:config
Right click anywhere on the page and select: New
Click on: String
Enter: browser.bookmarks.file
Enter this Value:
C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*.profilename\bookmarks.html
