He was in his eighty second year, having been born in Delaware County, New York, March 23, 1824, aged 81 years, 6 months, and 19 days.
He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Swartout February 20, 1848, at Maryland, New York. To this union was born nine children, six of whom are living, viz: N.J., C.O., Mrs. M.M. He was confined to his room for several weeks before he died; the last few weeks of his life he endured great suffering, and all that tender hands and loving hearts could do to alleviate his sufferings and restore him to health was done, but all to no purpose, and as stated above, sank calmly to rest on the evening of the 12th.
Miss Estella, daughter of N.J. Webb, became house keeper for her Grandpa, since the death of her Grandma, which occured eight years, ago during which time she never faltered in her devotion and care of her Grandpa she loved so well.
The last view of the remains were taken at the Judson church. After an appropriate sermon by the Rev. Wright, after which the body was taken in charge by the masons, under which auspices the burial was directed.
