Chapter 2
Friday, February 21, 1986
4:15 p.m.
Hill Valley, California
AFTER the blinding light dissipated, Jennifer looked down at the house only to see that the rooftop of the lab was closed. Jennifer tried the button on the dashboard. Nothing. She turned to the boys and asked "Jules, Verne, were you playing with this button while I was out." The two denied it. Then, Jules said "Let me try." He pushed the button, then looked under the dash, wiggled some wires, and pushed the button again. Still nothing. "Alright." said Jennifer, "As long as we're still invisble, I'm going to set it down on the street." She looked down and saw another startling sight. Her father's car, the car she borrowed to go to work, was gone. She landed the DeLorean onto the pavement and got out. She stood in the very spot that her father's car was and started feeling into her purse. Dad's going to kill me if he finds out what happened she said to herself. But then, she found the keys. Which meant that the only speculation would be that someone had hotwired the car and took off. But how could that be? She was gone for only a "second." She set the circuits for 4:15 pm for the return trip because that was the minute she left. And before she went back into time, she saw the car still there. All in all, she had to call the police about this. So, she went to get Jules and Verne out of the car and go up to the house. Doing so she said "Jules, do you know where your father would hide the house keys?" "Yes." said Jules. He went up to the porch. Then he paused there. "What's wrong?" asked Jennifer. "The welcome mat." said Jules, "The key was hidden under there." Jennifer looked around. She remembered seeing a welcome mat as she first entered the house to go back in time. But now it was gone. They both looked at Verne who said "Don't look at me." Jennifer put her hand on the door only to open it. Jennifer grabbed the doorframe to keep herself from falling. "What on earth." she said to aloud. Then she looked in and saw another startling sight. The place was dusty. Then, she saw some rats. She and the boys yelled out in fright and turned to run back into the car. Once inside, Jennifer sat in the driver's seat saying "I hate rats." "Jennifer." asked Jules, "What's happened to our house." "I don't know." said Jennifer. She looked at the "Present Time" indicator on the time circuits which now read 4:20 pm. She knew that her Burger King uniform was in the house. But she was too frightened to go back there and get it. And it was too late to go home and pick out another uniform. "Guys." said Jennifer, "I'm going to take you to my job. Hopefully, someone would lend me a..." "You mean Burger King?" asked Jules. "Yum, yum." said Verne. "Now guys." said Jennifer, "You going to have to pay for your own. Otherwise it's going to come out of my paycheck." "Jennifer." said Jules, "Remember that bribe you made to get us to allow you to use this time machine?" "What about it?" asked Jennifer. "There's not enough money for us to pay for what we want." said Jules. "There's no time to argue." said Jennifer as she turned on the ignition. "Jennifer." said Jules. "What?" asked Jennifer. "You'd better turn off the cloaking device." said Jules, "Dad said you can't keep it on indefinitaly. You'll wear out the car batteries." "Okay." said Jennifer as she pushed a button.

Red Thomas was drinking out a Jack Daniels bottle when he saw a DeLorean appear and drive down the street. He looked at the departing car, then at the bottle and threw it into the bushes.

The Burger King Jennifer was working at was the same Burger King that was next to what was once Doc Brown's place of residence. The oddest thing was that when Jennifer pulled into the employee parking lot, she noticed the place next door still standing That's strange. said Jennifer I thought Doc's old place was torn down by now. Enough wondering. She got out and took the boys into the kitchen. That's where she got another surprise. "Excuse me lady." said a voice. Jennifer turned to him. It was her shift supervisor Geren "Zerkle" Piltz. "Geren." said Jennifer. But, Geren went onto to say "This part of the building is for employees only." Jennifer was startled at this. "Sir." she said, "I do work here. Don't you know me?" "No." said Geren. "It's me said Jennifer." said Jennifer, "Jennifer Parker." Geren picked up a roster clipboard and said "There's no Jennifer Parker on the payroll." "It can't be." said Jennifer, "You interveiwed me for the job way back in August..." "Hey, lady." said Geren, "I want you to leave before I call the police." Then, Edda came in. "Edda." said Jennifer, "Set Geren straight. Who am I?" "Yeah." said Edda, "Who are you?" She stared Jennifer in the eye saying that. "Okay, girl." said Geren, "Out!" Jennifer stared at the two in disbelief. Then she and the boys left. Getting into the DeLorean Jennifer said "I don't understand it." "What's there to understand, Jennifer?" asked Jules. "Geren and Edda know me well." said Jennifer, "We're practically friends. How could they forget me?" She turned on the ignition. "Where are we going?" asked Verne. "Home." "Home?" asked Jules, "Our home is rat infested." "No, Jules." said Jennifer, "Not your home, my home. And I've got to explain to dad what's happened to the car." The DeLorean pulled out of the parking lot and down the street.

Arriving at the house, Jennifer got out of the car followed by Jules and Verne. "I'm going to tell mom and dad make and extra dinner for you guys." said Jennifer as she opened the door. When they entered, another surprise was waiting for them. A Great Dane came charging at them. "Hamlet." said a voice. A blonde hair man came into veiw. "Hey." said Jennifer, "What are you doing in my house." "Your house?Who's this girl?" By now, the "who are you?" was driving Jennifer crazy. "Jan." said Jim, "She's some girl who walked in here without knocking." "This is my house." insisted Jennifer. But, by then she was drowned out by the arguing and bickering between the couple. Then, she turned to the boys and said "Com'on boys. Let's get outta here." The three left. As they got the front porch, Jennifer looked at the mailbox. It no longer read "Parker". It read "Jandick." What's going on here? asked Jennifer to herself. Getting into the DeLorean she looked at the paper bag containing the "Butcher Album" of the Beatles' Yesterday and Today. Marty! said Jennifer to herself, I hope that he's home, and I hope he knows who I am. Turning on the ignition, she pulled the car out of the driveway and drove over to Marty's house.

Arriving at 9303 Lyon's Estate, Jennifer saw Marty outside the house. Marty. said Jennifer to herself, He's out of the hospital and outside already? She pulled up into the driveway and got out. "Marty." she said. But Marty, stared at her saying "Yes? Can I help you?" "Marty." said Jennifer, "It's me Jennifer." "Jennifer who?" asked Marty. "Jennifer Parker." she said, "Your girlfriend." "I don't have a girlfriend." said Marty, "And I've never seen you before in my life." Jennifer stared at Marty in disbelief. "Not you too." said Jennifer, "Marty, listen to me. Your full name is Martin Seamus McFly. You were born on June 7, 1968. You're the youngest of three children. Your parents names are George and Lorraine McFly. Your father is a writer for science fiction novels. Your brother Dave works at a computer firm. Your sister Linda works at a boutique. You have a band called the Pinheads. You're friends to Doctor Emmett L. Brown who invented the time machine." Marty looked at Jennifer in disbelief. "You know all about our time travelings?" "Yes." said Jennifer, "The time machine is right here." Marty looked at the DeLorean and said "What the hell?" He turned to Jennifer and said "Where the hell did you get this?" "From Doctor Brown." said Jennifer. "From Doc?" exclaimed Marty. "Yes." said Jennifer, "I wanted to buy you a get well gift..." Her voice trailed off as she looked into the garage for the first time. The black truck of Marty's was gone. "Marty." said Jennifer, "What happened to your truck?" Marty could no longer take any more of this. "Get away from me." he said, "Go before I call the police." "Marty." said Jennifer, "What's going on? Why are you telling me to leave." But Marty turned and ran into the house. Jennifer stared blankly at the door that Marty had entered. Then, she returned to the DeLorean and got in. She pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street. Then, she parked the car, put her head on the wheel and started to cry as Jules and Verne looked on.

Marty made a mad dash to his bedroom. "Marty." said his mother, "What's the matter?" Marty didn't respond. Closing the door, he picked up the phone and called Doc's place. It was still difficult pushing the buttons on his cellular phone as he was still suffering from his hand injury caused by the automobile accident with the Rolls-Royce. Once he did dial he got Doc. "Doc." he said. "What is Marty?" asked Doc's voice. "Doc." said Marty, "We've got trouble." "What kind a touble?" asked Doc's voice. "There's some girl I just saw." said Marty, "I've never seen her before in my life. But she claims to be my girlfriend and knows everything about me, my family and you!" "Me?" exclaimed Doc, "How much does she know about me?" "Everything." said Marty, "Even our time travels." "What?" exclaimed Doc's voice. "That's right, Doc." said Marty, "She's got a DeLorean and said she got it from you." "Marty." said Doc's voice, "The DeLorean is here in our lab." "What?" exclaimed Marty, "Then what the hell is this girl driving?" "A DeLorean." said Doc. "I know that, Doc." said Marty. "Marty, listen to me." said Doc's voice, "If this girl knows all about our time traveling, she could be a threat to the very existance of the universe. Can you meet me at Lone Pine Mall in about ten minutes." "Will do, Doc." said Marty. He hung up the phone, grabbed his skateboard and left.

Jennifer finally pulled herself together and drove off. But she drove around aimlessly. Looking around Hill Valley. It started to suck in. All of the sudden she was a stranger in the town she grew up in. But the biggest concern was Jules and Verne. They must be hungry by now. She drove passed the Peabody Mall. Then, she pulled up to the sign and got out. The sign read "Lone Pine Mall." This is getting to be more insane all the time. she said to herself. She also noticed a single pine tree on the sign. She turned back to the DeLoreon and got in. She turned to the boys and said "I'm going to the nearest phone booth, look through the phone book and find out where your father lives." "Why?" asked Jules. "Because", said Jennifer, "he's the only one who could explain what's happened to everybody and why nobody knows who I am." "Jennifer." said Verne, "If dad finds out that we..." "I know." said Jennifer, "But, I got no choice." She turned the key, through the car in reverse, looked behind her only to see a car pop out of nowhere and block her exit. Then, she saw two people get out. She recognized them. It was Doc and Marty. "Doctor Brown." said Jennifer getting out of the car, "Thank God." She approached him, but Marty said "Watch it, Doc." Doc looked at the DeLorean and got in. "Great Scott!" he exclaimed. "What is it, Doc?" asked Marty. "There's two boys in here." said Doc, "She's a kidnapper." "Dad." said Jules. "Dad?" exclaimed Doc, "What do you mean 'Dad'?" "You're our father." said Verne. "What?" exclaimed Doc. "Doctor Brown." asked Jennifer, "Are you trying to say that you don't know your own boys either?" "No, I don't." said Doc, "Who's there mother?" "Clara." said Jennifer, "Your wife." "Wife? exclaimed Doc, "I don't have a wife." Something's really wrong. said Jennifer to herself, First, I discover that nobody knows me. My parents have suddenly moved out. The Peabody Mall is now called Lone Pine Mall. And now, Doc doesn't know his own sons and he's not married. What's going on? Her thoughts were interrupted by another "Great Scott." by Doc. "What is it, Doc?" aske Marty. "These time circuits." said Doc, "It has a 'Destination Location' added to it." Marty peered into the DeLorean, and as he backed out, Doc got out. "The 'Destination Location' was going to be my next project." said Doc, "Marty restrain the girl." Marty complied. "Doctor Brown." said Jennifer, "Marty, what are you doing?" She struggled to break free of Marty. As she did, Marty was crying out in pain. "Doc." he said, "My hand's still hurting. Hurry up." "Hold on, Marty." said Doc. Hand? asked Jennifer to herself. But, before she tried to figure out what was wrong with his hand, an object resembeling the sleep inducer was in her face. Two streams of light sprung from it into her eyes. She slumped into unconscienceness.
