IN the distance, Doc, Marty and Jennifer watched as the plane carrying their holographic counterparts exploded into a fiery blaze. “Clever plan, Doctor Brown.” commented Jennifer putting down her binoculars, “Where did you get that device?” “From the future.” said Doc, “I never bothered to unpack it or take it out of the car until now.” They all looked at the device that Doc was working. “That’s great, Doc.” said Marty, “It wasn’t left in the catacomb along with the DeLorean for…” “No, Marty.” said Doc, “I went back to the future to get it a little while ago.” “Well, as long as it worked,” said Jennifer, “the reward money will be dropped.” “That’s for sure.” said Marty as he helped Doc put the device back into the trunk from whence it came. Then, Doc turned to Jennifer saying “Jennifer I must protest.” “About what?” asked Jennifer. “About having me have your duplicate push down that showgirl.” said Doc. “Well I didn’t have time to act ladylike here, Doctor Brown.” said Jennifer. “But I had to push the buttons.” said Doc, “I wouldn’t…” “…do that to a lady, I know Doctor Brown.” said Jennifer, “But my character had to be in character.” “I understand.” said Doc. Afterwards, they got into the DeLorean, cloaked it and went back to the hideout.
When they returned, they heard some more bad news. “What is it?” asked Jennifer. “Just listen.” said her father giving her a headset. Jennifer listened. It was one of the phones that her dissidents bugged. On one end was Jiff, the other was President Nixon. “I know you said you blew up your jet engine plane with the dissident, your stepmother and her son inside. But I can’t have that reward money dropped or the borders opened until the investigators sift through the wreckage of that plane and recover the bodies for identification.” Jennifer heard enough. She put down the headset as Marty asked “What is it, Jen?” “The reward money,” she said, “They’re not going to drop it or open the borders until they sift through that wreckage to recover our ‘bodies’ for identification.” “But there are no bodies in there.” gasped Doc. “I know.” said Jennifer. “But he’ll be in for a shock, Jen.” said Marty. “He will.” said Jennifer, “Until he finds out what we did to convince him to think it was us.” “And how will he figure that out?” asked Marty. “Biff had NASA in his pocket here. When he died, Biff inherited the responsibility.” said Jennifer, “There are spy satellites up there taking pictures of everybody’s move down here. They’ll be using those photos to check everyone’s move down here and if we’re caught on one of these pics…” “Great Scott.” said Doc. “This is heavy.” said Marty, “Jen, what are we gonna do?” “We’ll have to sit tight and think.” said Jennifer. “Then, there’s nothing much we could do.” said Doc, “I’d suggest you let me and Marty go back to our reality and…” “Wait a minute, Doc.” said Marty, “What about Mom even if she’s a different Lorraine in a different reality.” “Not much.” said Doc, “Unless…” He stopped himself in midspeech as he looked in the general direction of the DeLorean. Then, with a smile on his face, he said “Of course. Site-to-site transport.” “Site-to-site?” asked Jennifer. “Yeah.” said Marty realizing what Doc was getting at, “Site-to-site.” “How?” asked Jennifer. Doc turned to Jennifer asking “You mean you didn’t notice the ‘DESTINATION LOCATION’ on the time circuits when you first commandeered the DeLorean?” “No, I haven’t.” said Jennifer. “There’s so much you have to learn about the us in our reality.” said Doc, “Just as much as we had to learn about yours.” “I know, Doctor Brown.” said Jennifer, “What’s the plan?” “Follow me.” said Doc. Jennifer and the rest followed him to the DeLorean.
Doc showed Jennifer the “Destination Location” indicator on the time circuit of the DeLorean and the map indicator adjacent to the circuit box. “A few questions.” said Doc, “Where in Argentina is your Marty?” “Near Buenos Aires.” said Jennifer. “Okay, you push a few buttons here.” said Doc, pushing buttons on the tiny keyboard. And up popped
BUENOS AIRES ARGENTINA
Then, letting Jennifer in on the passenger side, Doc showed her the map saying “There’s Buenos Aires. Now we need to know where in it’s vicinity is it.” He turned a few dials and the map moved. Using the needle on the indicator, Jennifer looked at it before saying “There.” “Okay.” said Doc as he got out to load Mr. Fusion. Turning to Marty, he said “Marty get your mother.” “Check, Doc.” said Marty. And he went out . Turning back to Jennifer he asked “Jennifer, are you going to be alright for the trip down to South America?” “Of course.” said Jennifer, “Don’t worry about me.” Marty came back with Lorraine. Doc said “Lorraine. Marty will join you down there in Argentina.” Upon hearing this Marty took Doc aside asking “Doc, what do you mean ‘joining her down there in Argentina’?” “Marty.” whispered Doc, “I want you to stay here. If the you from this reality is down there, I don’t want him to see you.” Marty shrugged. Then, he said “You’re the doc, Doc.” After that, Doc got Lorraine into the DeLorean. Then, he himself got in, activated the cloaking device, lifted off the ground and kicked up to gear until it reached 88 miles per hour and was gone in a brilliant flash of light leaving behind a pair of fire trails.
When the blue light dissipated, they found themselves on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. There was rugged terrain in the surrounding areas of the city covered with trees. Then, Jennifer spotted a flat clear area in the midst of a thicket. “There.” she said, “Land the car there.” Doc stirred the car towards that area.
There were armed people surrounding the DeLorean which landed. The passenger side opened first with a white flag popping out of the door. It was held by Jennifer. “It’s alright.” she said in Spanish, “It’s me.” “Jennifer.” said one of members of this group, also in Spanish. They both embraced. “Jennifer.” asked the fellow, “How did you get out? The borders have been closed.” “Believe me.” said Jennifer, “You don’t want to believe me.” Then, she asked “Where’s Marty?” One of the members called for him. Out came Marty. “Jennifer?” he said in English. Then, someone else came out. It was Doc. He accompanied Lorraine. “Mom.” he exclaimed. Mother and son embraced. Then, Marty asked “Mom. I heard you escaped. How did you…” Lorraine backed away for a minute. “Mom.” said Marty, “Is something wrong?” “Marty.” said Lorraine, “You’re acting like you’ve haven’t seen me in ages.” “Mom.” he said, “You haven’t.” Doc stood there realizing that this is a different Marty. Jennifer whispered to Doc “Maybe you’d better explain to her that you and your Marty are from another reality.” “Why don’t we go somewhere and discuss this?” asked Doc. “Okay.” said Jennifer. Turning to her comrades, she spoke in Spanish again. “Take our guest to our huts and fix them some drinks.” “Yes ma’am.” said the comrades. They went inside a hut. “Sorry about décor here, Doctor Brown.” said Jennifer, “We don’t have the amenities that you were accustomed too in your reality.” “That’s alright.” said Doc. Then, Jennifer whispered to her people in Spanish “Fix us and our guest a drink.” “Yes, ma’am.” was the response. Then, she turned to Doc saying “Why don’t you make yourself at home?” “Alright.” said Doc as he sat down. Turning to Lorraine, Doc said “Mrs. McFl-Tannen, we haven’t been straight forward with you about this. But…” “But what?” asked Lorraine. “That flying gadget you were in that got you down in in a flash…” said Doc. “What about it?” asked Lorraine. “It’s a time machine.” said Doc. Lorraine stared at Doc in disbelief. “It’s true.” said Jennifer, “And we built a time machine similar to his just to travel through time.” “But what does this have to do with Marty not seeing me in a long time when he saw me this morning?” asked Lorraine. “Because he’s not your Marty.” said Doc, “He’s from a different reality. So am I.” “What?” exclaimed Lorraine. “That’s right.” said Doc, “We’re from a different reality. It’s a reality in which Biff is alive and well and run’s an auto detailing business. And in which your first husband George McFly is still alive.” Both Marty and Lorraine stared at him in disbelief. Then, the drinks came in. Jennifer offered Doc a glass and Doc accepted it. Taking a sip, Doc then spat it out. “Great Scott.” he exclaimed, “What is this?” “A tequila sunrise.” said Jennifer. “Jennifer.” said Doc, “There’s something you don’t know about me.” “What is it?” asked Jennifer. “I can’t handle my own liquor.” He was barely finished when he passed out.
Jennifer motioned to the rest saying in Spanish “Help me get him to the couch.” The others did. Then, Jennifer felt a twinge in her back. “Jennifer.” said Lorraine, “You’d better sit down.” Marty looked at her back. “Jennifer.” he said, “Your back is bleeding.” Then Jennifer remembered her doctors warning about her starting to bleed if she did anything strenuous. “Oh my God.” she said. At once, one of her cohorts went to the First Aid kit and got a gauze. Then it was applied to Jennifer’s back. “As soon as Doctor Brown comes too, I’ll have to get back there.” Then, the short-wave radio crackled. “Seniora Parker.” said one of her people in Spanish, “It’s for you.” “Gracious.” said Jennifer. Immediately, she got on the phone. To her gratification it was her father. “Jennifer.” he said, “We’ve got trouble.” “What kind of trouble?” asked Jennifer. “The police have found out our hiding place.” said her father, “We’re surrounded.” Jennifer turned to the unconscious Doc Brown and then through the short-wave asked “Is Marty okay?” Her Marty tried to explain that he is but was hushed up. “He is.” said Mr. Parker’s voice. “Okay.” said Jennifer, “We’ll try to get back as soon as…” “Jennifer.” interrupted her father, “I’d think you’d better take it easy. Remember you’ve been shot…” Then, there was static. “Dad, dad.” cried out Jennifer. Then, the connection went dead. Feeling helpless, Jennifer looked at the Doc that was lying down. Then, turning to her comrades, she said in Spanish “Fix some coffee. Black.” At once, her comrades did.
While the coffee was being fixed, Jennifer explained to Lorraine and her son about Doc and the other Marty. “After you shot your husband,” she explained, “we extracted the video we used to tape Biff’s every move and viewed it. What I saw almost shocked me. I saw the minutes before he went up to the rooftop where he got shot and saw myself and…” Turning to Marty she said “…another you. Right there on the view screen!” “Jennifer.” explained Marty, “I wasn’t in the U.S. for the last two years since that bounty Biff put on me.” “I know.” said Jennifer, “And I couldn’t believe that there was another me running around in the world until I saw the date on that book Biff showed ‘you’.” She paused before saying “It was from the year 2000.” Both mother and son looked at Jennifer in disbelief. But Jennifer went on. “We also saw a video of Marty and my other self being helped to escaped by this man.” she said indicating to Dr. Brown who was still unconscious. “I found it hard to believe.” said Jennifer, “Doctor Brown was supposed to be committed. And he was after we visited the institute that he was committed too. So we went to his abandoned lab and came across some blueprints for a time machine. So we used them to build one and after studying the photo of the same book in the pocket of Biff’s jacket when he won his first of many horse races we went back to the eve of his 21st birthday in 1958, made off with the Almanac and burned it. When we came back to our own time we saw that everything had changed and that we were in the reality in which my other self and Marty’s lived in. Realizing that, I volunteered to go back to that reality to abduct the other Marty so he could help you out of jail, Lorraine. And I got the other Doctor Brown in the deal.” Both mother and son started to understand.
The coffee was finished and a cup was brought in to feed to Doc. After a few cups, Doc came too. “Oh.” he said, “What a drink. I should’ve told you about myself.” “Sorry, Doctor Brown.” said Jennifer, “We don’t know enough about you.” “That’s okay.” said Doc, “Wow, what a headache. I sure need Tylenol for this.” “That’s not all.” said Jennifer, “We need to get back. The police found our hiding place and it’s under siege.” “Great Scott.” said Doc, “Marty.” “I know.” said Jennifer, “But you need to know how to get back to your own reality.” “I think we do.” said Doc. “Not really.” said Jennifer, “When I took that book from Biff the second time, it was on the morning of his 21st birthday. The time was around 6:00 a.m. that morning. Then, I burned it, went back to the future to buy a new Sports Almanac, came to your 1987 to abduct both you and Marty, and went back to 1958 to give Biff the new book. It was ten after six.” She took a piece of paper and wrote the time and date that she would want Doc and Marty to go too. Doc read it. “Jennifer.” he said, “This brings us closer to Biff’s wake-up time.” “I know.” said Jennifer. “That means”, said Doc, “if we go back to that time and burn the Almanac, the chances of us returning to your reality will be next to impossible.” “I’m well aware of that.” said Jennifer, “And Doc Brown, once you’re back to your reality, I want you to find the time machine that I came in and take it back to your lab. You could do whatever you want with it. We won’t need it anymore.” She took out a map of Hill Valley and marked a spot saying “It’s right here.” Doc studied it. Then he looked at the brave girl and said “Alright.” Then, Jennifer collected her belongings and said “We’d better get back.” “Senora Parker.” said one of her people in Spanish, “Please remain. At least until your wounds are healed.” “I don’t have time.” said Jennifer, “But I’d welcome some help.” Some of her people picked up some weapons saying “Count us in.” Jennifer saw them load their weapons and smiled.
Doc figured out the time that the short-wave radio link went dead and said “I’ve set the time circuits for that moment. We’ll arrive at that precise second. Since the DeLorean employs a cloaking device we arrived there unobserved and effect rescue operations.” Jennifer repeated that in Spanish for her people to hear. Then, she said “Good. Once there we’ll open fire.” Doc studied Jennifer very closely before saying “Not a good idea. If you open fire, you’ll draw fire.” “A chance we’ll have to take.” said Jennifer. She turned to her people saying in Spanish “If anyone wants to back out now, nothing will be said. I’ve already disqualified the married folk.” Moments paused. Then, Jennifer said “Alright, everyone into the car.” “And be careful.” said Doc, “It’s pretty cramped.” It was like trying to fit people into a phone booth. Then, finally Doc and Jennifer got in and lifted off the ground and were on their way back to civilization.
