MARTY had fallen asleep while waiting the outcome of Jennifer’s surgery. When he woke up it was morning. Also his mother was nearby. “Mom,” he said, “is that you?” “There, there.” said Lorraine, “Relax. You’ve been asleep for almost five hours now.” “I had the worst nightmare, Mom.” said Marty, “I dreamt that Jennifer had turned into a terrorist and got shot. And you were in jail for murdering Biff. It was terrible.” “Well, you’re safe and sound now.” said Lorraine, “Right back in the good ol’ dissident’s hideout.” “Dissident’s hideout?” exclaimed Marty as his eyes bugged wide open. He sat up as the lights went on. He looked around to see his mother with the same careworn look she had in jail. Then, remembering that he had gone to sleep while waiting for the outcome of Jennifer’s surgery, he asked “Jennifer. What’s happened?” “Now relax, Marty.” said Lorraine, “Everything’s okay. Jennifer’s out of danger.” Marty paused before saying “That’s a relief.” “Are you hungry?” asked Lorraine, “They do have food here.” “I just want to talk to Jennifer.” said Marty. He got up only to see Doc there to intercept him. “Marty.” he said, “Jennifer needs rest.” “Doc.” said Marty, “I feel so responsible. Geez, it’s my fault. I forgot that this was a different Jennifer. She took a hostage while we were springing Mom. I let that hostage go and there were bullets flying all over the joint. If only…” “Marty.” said Doc, “You did the right thing. It’s no good thinking like they do. The last thing we want to do is to adapt to their philosophy.” Then someone came in. Marty assumed that this was a doctor. “She’s awake.” he said. “That’s good.” said Marty. Asking for directions, Marty went to Jennifer’s room.
Jennifer was wide awake when Marty entered. The room itself was unlike a hospital room understanding the circumstances the dissidents were in. There were no windows being that it was underground and such. “Jennifer.” he said, “How was it?” “Great.” she said, “They removed the bullet without any trouble at all. I could be up and at ‘em today.” “Today?” exclaimed Marty, “Woa, Jen. You’ve just got shot. You’ve gotta take it easy for a few days.” “That’s alright, Marty.” said Jennifer, “They gave me a local anesthetic.” “They did?” asked Marty. “Yeah.” said Jennifer, “Brandy.” “Brandy?” exclaimed Marty, “Jennifer does your old man know about…” Then, his voice trailed off.
He had just remembered his first trip to Hell Valley-when he encountered this reality’s version of his brother, Dave: That the drinking age was reduced to the age of fourteen.
Marty found himself in the mist of a downtown Hill Valley that was a complete nightmare.
Under his feet was the sign “Hill Valley-A Nice Place to Live” riddled with bullet holes.
The Courthouse had become a gigantic size Las Vegas style high rise hotel complex-complete with the sign reading “BIFF TANNEN’S PLEASURE PARADISE-Hotel-Resort-Casino-Girls.” over the entrance. Over the sign itself was cutout portrait of Biff lighting a cigar with a $100 bill.
The streets had bikers on Harley’s everywhere.
The sidewalks had hookers and bag ladies with shopping carts.
In the distance, large industrial smoke stacks spewed thick pollution into the night sky.
The entire square was being surrounded by bars, adult book stores, pawn shops, bail bondsmen and porn shops.
Then a look back to the Courthouse-turned-hotel showed Marty seeing a young man being tossed out of the building by two men. One of them saying “…and don’t ever come beggin’ for drinks in here again! Friggin’ lush.”
Marty recognized this bouncer. It was on of Biff’s friends from the ‘50’s: 3-D. He also recognized the other as Match.
The drunk got up asking “Hey can’t you guys take a joke?”
There was something familiar about this drunk who took a pint bottle out of his ragged coat, drains what’s left in it, and threw it at the hotel.
Marty approached this fellow and looked at him.
It was his 22 year-old brother, Dave.
“Dave!” exclaimed Marty.
Dave looked back at Marty saying “Marty! Hey, bro, what’s happening! Hey, you’re looking’ kinda ragged there-what, did you sleep in your clothes again last night?”
“Dave,” gasped Marty, “my God, what happened to you? What’s happened to the town? What’s going on around here?”
“Oh, all this?” asked Dave, “It’s the Biker’s Convention. So, Marty, when’d you get back?”
“Back?” asked Marty “Back from where?”
“Well, if you don’t know, how do you expect me to tell you?” chuckled Dave, “Hey, let’s go have a few, huh? You got money, don’t ya?”
Marty found himself being dragged toward a tavern by his own brother Dave.
“What are you talkin’ about, Dave?” explained Marty, “I’m under age!”“Under age?” exclaimed Dave, “Quit kidding around! You’ve been over 14 since-since -well, since your 14 birthday!”
Then, Marty turned to Jennifer and said “Sorry about that. It’s that where I came from…” “That’s alright.” said Jennifer. Then, she asked Marty “Marty. You risked yourself, your mother’s safety and the safety of my comrades to save me. Why?” “Because it happened to you in a different reality.” said Marty. “It did?” asked Jennifer. “Yeah.” said Marty, “Last year, you used the time machine to go to the future to buy me a gag gift for my birthday. You encountered your future self and passed out, hitting your head on the time circuits and sent you back to the past crashing Doc and Clara’s wedding.” “Clara.” said Jennifer, “The woman that Doctor Brown married. The woman from the past.” “Right.” said Marty, “When you came too, you discovered that you lost your memory and Doc had to go back to the future to get me. When I arrived, Biff’s great grandfather Buford Tannen had escaped and came back to town and kidnapped you just to have me face him.” “Marty.” said Jennifer, “Why would he had wanted to face you?” “Long story, Jen.” said Marty, “Anyway, I went out to where Buford was holding you hostage and faced him. He threatened to kill you. That’s when your memory returned. You outwitted Buford and took off with me. But Buford shot you in the back and I had to get you back to the future and to a hospital.” After hearing the story, Jennifer said “Well, thank you again for saving me.” “You’re welcome.” said Marty.
Then, Doc came in and whispered to Marty saying, “Marty, you’d better come out here and see this.” Marty turned to Jennifer who said “Go on, Marty.” Marty did. In the other room, there was a television set that was turned on. On the screen was Richard Nixon. Marty remembered that in this reality, Nixon had the U.S. Constitution revised so he could have more terms in office as President. Doc, Marty and the others listened as Nixon made his speech.
“My fellow Americans.” he said, “Last night, Jerry Parker and his daughter Jennifer’s band of dissidents struck again this time aiding the release of a dangerous criminal.”“Dangerous?” exclaimed Marty, “You son of a…” Doc hushed him immediately.
On the screen, Nixon went on: “These dissidents have gone too far. Not only have they disrupted the American way of life, but they have made a fugitive out of the woman who murdered a man that I have called ‘friend’: Biff Tannen.
“Now nobody knows why she did it. Her husband loved her, cared for her and her children after her first husband died. But Lorraine Tannen killed her husband in cold blood and had to pay the penalty for that crime.
“What those dissidents did last night was strike a blow to justice. And if they are ever caught, they will face the same horrible death along with Mrs. Tannen.
“I have notified the National Guard to close all borders so these dissidents cannot escape the justice that will be done to them and have posted a million dollar reward for anyone who spots these kinds of people.”
Immediately, the screen switched from the alternate reality President to a gallery of photos showing Jennifer, her father, and the people involved in the prison escape of Marty’s mother.
Then, Nixon’s voice said “It is understood that Mrs. Tannen’s son, Marty is in the country. Witnesses said that he was with these dissidents last night.”
Right there was a picture of Marty.
“These dissidents are dangerous. If anyone spots them or someone bearing their resemblance, please do not take any action against them. Notify the authorities and they’ll handle it.
“And again, there will be a million dollar reward for anyone who turns these dissidents in.
“Biff Tannen was a kind and decent human being and I’ve considered him a friend despite all the negative remarks that Tricia said about him. And his death shall be avenged.
“Thank you.”
After the broadcast, Marty said “She’s right. Biff, that is the Biff of this reality, wasn’t a decent human being.” “Let’s not belabor that now, Marty.” said Doc, “The bottom line now is that you’ve saved Lorraine Tannen of this reality. The only thing now is to get back to our reality.” “That won’t be easy.” said Mr. Parker, “We’ve still have to get her out of the country.” “With the borders closed and a reward on the head of all you dissidents, that will be easier said than done.” said Doc. “We’ll have to try.” said Mr. Parker. “Mr. Parker.” said Doc, “I’d think you and your dissidents should take it easy. You have a daughter in the other room that needs to recuperate.” “That’ll have to wait.” said a voice. It was Jennifer. She was out of her hospital gown and back in her jumpsuit. “Jennifer.” said her father, “Are you sure you should be up?” “I’m sure, Dad.” said Jennifer. But the doctor objected. “You shouldn’t be up.” he said, “Go back to bed.” “I will.” said Jennifer, “As soon as we get Lorraine out of the country.” “Jennifer.” insisted Marty, “Listen to your doctor. Go back to bed.” Jennifer gave Marty a hard stare. Then she said “May I remind you, Marty, that I’m not your girlfriend here. That I don’t have time for love here. And the ‘me’ that’s your girlfriend is bound and gagged in her own closet naked. And that I’ve taken her place to bring her here. You shouldn’t be concerned about me after what I did.” “But I am.” said Marty, “You’re so much like my Jennifer.” Marty looked at her. She seemed so sad-faced as she looked back at him. “All I my life I only known how to fight.” she said, “I never had time for love.” Marty smiled. “You don’t know what you’re missing, Jen.” he said. Jennifer smiled back.
Then, Doc hit on something. “I’d think I know how to get Lorraine out of the country without a hitch.” he said. “This better not involve Miss Parker.” said the physician, “She does anything strenuous right now, she’ll bleed again.” “I have a plan.” said Doc. At that, everyone huddled around to hear what it is.
Jiff was on the phone to the president when the phone line went dead. “What the hell?” he exclaimed. Then, someone entered the room. It was the dissident Jennifer Parker. She was armed. “Hello again, Jiff.” she said with a smile. “Well lookie what we have here.” said Jiff, “How the hell did you get past my security.” “Never mind that, Jiff.” said Jennifer, “We need to talk.” “It’s about dropping the reward money.” said Jiff, “Forget it kid.” “It’s not the reward money that I’m interested in dropping.” said Jennifer, “It’s your private jet.” “Why?” demanded Jiff. “So we could help your stepmother escape.” said Jennifer. “Uh uh.” said Jiff, “I ain’t gonna aid and abet in the escape of a fugitive from the law. She’s going back to jail and she’s gonna fry for what she did to my old man.” “I don’t think so.” said Jennifer. Pointing a gun at Jiff she back herself into the open doorway from whence she came from and motioned to someone or something outside. A group of people enter. They were the dissidents. Mr. Parker was among them. They were accompanying Marty and his mother. They also had one of the showgirls as a hostage. “As I was saying,” said Jennifer, “your private jet plane if you please.” Jiff paused for a minute. Then, he said “Alright.” Satisfied, Jennifer motioned her people to follow Jiff to the rooftop.
Jiff got on his walkie-talkie out and talked to his people. Upon arriving, there was a jet plane waiting for them. “Now stand back everyone.” said Jennifer as she pointed her rifle at the frightened showgirl, “or she gets it.” Everyone working for the Pleasure Paradise backed away allowing the band of dissidents access to the plane. Then, with one foot on the threshold of the entrance, Jennifer took the showgirl by the arm and thrust her onto the ground. With everyone inside, she closed door and the motor started to run. Within minutes the plane was airborne.
As it was in the air, Jiff was took a box out of hiding and aimed an antenna attached to it at the plane. Pushing a button on the box , the plane exploded creating a huge fireball. “That’ll teach ’em.” said Jiff as he witnessed his handiwork.
