Chapter 7

MARTY was barely out the backstage door when he ran into Doc who asked "How did it go?" "Great." said Marty, "John Lennon played the music I taught him and the audience loved it. And what's more, Paul McCartney was there and he liked it so much he wanted to joined." "Did he?" asked Doc. "Yeah." said Marty, "He even auditioned for John playing Eddie Cochran's Twenty Flight Rock! Doc paused. Then, he pulled out a newspaper and looked at it. "Marty." he said, "It worked. Look at this 1964 newspaper article." Marty did. The headline had changed. Instead of it being a typical newsday, it read:

BEATLES A SUCCESS

Doc and Marty looked at each other before Doc said "Quick. Let's get back to the DeLorean and go through the other newspapers to see what they read. At that, they went outside and back onto the rooftop.

Reaching the rooftop, Doc and Marty entered the DeLorean. Picking up some of the newspapers the brought from the future, they started looking through them. Indeed the headlines and stories were changing. Where the November 1964 headline had read:

GOLDWATER ELECTED

now read:

JOHNSON ELECTED

Marty was elated over this. "Doc." he said, "We did it. The newspaper articles are changing." Doc picked up a newspaper from August 1974 that read:

NIXON FRAMED

But, now it read:

NIXON RESIGNS

"Yes." said Doc, "Success. Mission accomplished." As Marty picked up the newspaper that read "Nuclear Threat Immenent" which now showed it a typical newsday and another newspaper that now showed

BEATLES SAVE CLOCKTOWER

he said "The world is safe from a threat now and Jennifer's been born, right?" "It sure is." said Doc reading the November 10, 1966 obituary that was supposed to have Paul McCartney's death on it but now showed nothing of a sort. "It's the ripple effect." said Doc, "Earth's future's been save. Now let's go home." "Yeah, Doc." said Marty as Doc set the time circuits for 1986, "Let's get our asses back to the future." As soon as those words were spoken, the car lifted off the roof top and drove off picking up speed until it crossed the time barrier.

Saturday, November 29, 1986
Hill Valley, California
4:30 p.m.

The next thing to be seen from the DeLorean was a picture of Hill Valley still intact. Doc steered the DeLorean towards his house on Elmdale and tried the opener. It worked the roof opened and the car made it's descent into the lab. After they got out, they were greated by Einstein. "Einstein." said Doc, "You old devil, you." Marty was looking around assured now that this was their reality. Then, Clara and the two boys came in. "Daddy's home." said one of them. Clara kissed the Doc saying "How did it go, Emmett?" "It went fine, Clara." said Doc. Then, Marty picked up a newspaper from December 9, 1980 and read it. It read

JOHN LENNON SLAIN

Marty knew that in his own reality that did happen. "Doc." he said, "How come you brought this newspaper as well." Doc turned to Marty. At first, he hesitated. Then, he said "I didn't want to tell you this but in the Beatle-less reality John Lennon was still alive." Marty dropped down on top of a bench saying "Oh my God. I've killed John Lennon." "Marty." said Doc, "Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon. I know it doesn't sound fair but you've got to look at the bright side. A world has been saved." Marty looked at the current day's newspaper and said "It sure is." Looking at the time, Marty said "Doc. I've got a gig to go to." "Okay, Marty." said Doc, "Me and Clara will see you tonight." Marty paused for a moment. Doc and Clara will be there. he said to himself, But not Jennifer. "Okay, Doc." said Marty, "I'll be seeing you two then." Marty turned and went to the front door and left the house. What he saw when he went outside was his own truck. In the other reality, he left it there when the house was abandoned. Apparently, when Marty succeeded in jump starting John Lennon's career, the original time line was restored transforming around that truck. Marty got in and drove home.

The first thing he wanted to do was take a look at the clocktower. It was the same clocktower it was before the timeline changed with the hands at 10:04-the moment the lightning struck it in 1955. Then, he drove passed the coffee shop where he and the pinheads were to perform tonight. There it was, the flyer. Indeed, rock-and-roll was back to stay. Afterwords, Marty drove home.

The first thing that happened when Marty came in was that he had recieved a phone call. Marty took it. "Yes." he inquired. "Marty." said a voice on the other end. It was Jennifer's. "Jen." said Marty, "How's it going up at your grandmother's?" "Great, Marty." said Jennifer, "Oh, Marty. I've got good news. I'm home." "Your are?" exclaimed Marty. "Yeah." said Jennifer, "Caltrans managed to make a clearing in the road last night. And we left for home this morning. I'm going to be seeing you tonight." "Well, that's great, Jen." said Marty, "I'll be seeing you then." After saying their goodbyes, Marty hung up. Then, Marty looked into the den. There it was again. That framed article about the Beatles saving the clock tower was back on the wall where it belonged. Marty smiled as he saw it. Then, the rest of the family asked "Marty. Who was that?" Marty turned to say "That was Jennifer. She said that the roads were cleared of snow last night and she and her family got home this morning. She's coming to my performance tonight." After that, Lorraine said "Marty. I'm glad about this. I was afraid you'd freak out onstage if Jennifer wasn't there." "And now you don't have to worry." said Marty. Then, he looked at the time. "Oh Geez." he said, "The time. I'd better get ready." After that, he went to his room to change.

Marty and the Pinheads performed well. As the show near it's end, Marty said "The next few songs are oldies." Turning to his band, he said "Okay now, this is a blue's rythm in 'B'. Watch out for the changes and try to keep up." Turning back to the crowd and seeing Jennifer there and then turning to his own parents, he strummed up his guitar and played Johnny B Goode. Marty felt nastalgic as he was performing it. It brought back memories of 1955 the night he got his parents back together and again when he had to teach John Lennon the song. When he was done, he performed Twenty Flight Rock when he was done. He said, and now this song's is from the group that saved rock-and-roll: The Beatles. The song was called All My Loving.

"Close your eyes and I'll kiss you,
                    Tomorrow, I'll miss you.
                    Remember, I'll always be true
                    And when, I'm away
                    I'll write home every
And I'll send all my loving to you

                    I'll pretend that I'm kissing,
                    The lips that I'm missing
And hope that my dreams would come true
                    And when, I'm away
                    I'll write home every
And I'll send all my loving to you

All my loving I will send to you.
All my loving, darling, I'll be true

Close your eyes, and I'll kiss you,
                    Tomorrow, I'll miss you.
                    Remember, I'll always be true
                    And when, I'm away
                    I'll write home every
And I'll send all my loving to you

All my loving I will send to you.
All my loving, darling, I'll be true

All my loving, All my loving
All my loving, I will send to you.

After he was done, the band was applauded to a standing ovation. After the performance, his mother and Jennifer greeted him. Marty kissed Jennifer. And then, Lorraine said "Marty. That music was reminiscent of my trip to Liverpoole. Where did you learn that?" "I practiced." said Marty, "Mom please." Looking at Jennifer, she said "Oh. Okay." After that, she left. Turning to Jennifer, he said to her "It's good to see you, Jen." "It's good to see you too, Marty." said Jennifer, "Oh, I've got all day off tomorrow." "That's great, Jen." said Marty, "So do I. We've got a chance to see that new movie: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home." "That's for sure, Marty." said Jennifer, "Marty. I ran into Doctor Brown and Clara earlier this evening. He told me about your trip with him back to 1957 Liverpool and your encounter with your future mom. Your current mother was sitting next to me and told me about 'Calvin Klein' teaching John Lennon how to play Johnny B Goode and Be-bop-alou. Was that you, Marty?" "It sure was, Jen." said Marty. Marty looked at her. It was way back in February when Jennifer went back in time to buy him a get well gift only to break up her parents engagement and come back to a world in which she never existed. And then, recollecting to himself what happened almost a year ago when he and Doc went back to 1941 and accidently prevented the Arizona from sinking in that sneak attack and returned to that terrible reality in which the United States had lost it's freedom. Also, there were the two times that they and Jennifer were in that Biff-altered reality created by the Sports Almanac, and finally that trip to 1964 in which Marty had to restore his own existance by confiscating that jar of poison from Biff before he used it on George McFly. Doc did say that time travel is a hazard. How many times was that fact forgotten? Enough of that now. The bottom line is that his own reality was back and everything was back to normal. And now there was tomorrow to look forward to. "Hey Jennifer." said Marty, "I'll tell you the story when we go to the movies tomorrow." "Okay." said Jennifer, "See you tomorrow." "See you, Jennifer." said Marty. At that, they kissed and went their separate ways.

The End.
