Hill Valley, California
10:10 p.m.
MARK Twain was ready to go over to the house of the editor of The Hill Valley Telegraph when two noises of thunder, simular to the one he heard that afternoon when the strange "ship" appeared out of nowhere and crashed landed onto the property of the Peabody Ranch, was heard. Then, a sound of gust was felt and the noise of the ship was heard. The ship itself could not be seen, so Twain went back to the huge building where the ship was and peered in. Emmett's fiance Clara was still in there. Then, to his amazement, the ship materialized out of thin air and the door opened. It was Emmett himself. Coming out the other side was a young lad. He saw Emmett turn to the young lad and say "Marty, go close the big door quick." At that, Twain retreated to the nearest bush and hide.

After Marty closed the door, he turned to see Clara and they two embraced. "I didn't think I'd see you again." she said. "Don't worry, ma'am." said Marty, "You'll be seeing a lot of me in the future. And I mean the future. Right now, we're seeing each other in the past." Clara laughed. Then, Marty turned to Doc and embraced him. "It's good to see you again, Marty." said Doc. "And it's good to see you again too, Doc." said Marty. After the reunion, Marty said "Hey Doc, about Jennifer..." "They've got her sedated now." said Doc, "You'll have to see her in the morning." "Okay, Doc." said Marty. "In the meantime," said Doc, "you'll have to spend the night at my place in the stable." "Understood, Doc." said Marty, "Hey Doc, how was the wedding?" "I postponed it until I could get Jennifer out of here." said Doc, "I didn't give the preacher the reason." "Good idea, Doc." said Marty. The man guarding the DeLorean was coming too. "Marty." said Doc, "Go outside. Quick." "Why, Doc?" asked Marty. "Because I sleep-induced someone before left." said Doc, "And he hasn't seen you." Marty looked at the man who was coming too and understood. "See you outside, Doc." said Marty and he left. Doc and Clara turned to the man guarding the DeLorean who asked "What happened?" "You passed out." explained Doc, "Are you alright now?" "Yes I am." said the man, "Please don't tell my superiors about this." "We won't." said Doc. At that, he and Clara left.
Once outside, Doc decided to take Clara home first. Arriving there, they went inside. Clara made some tea as Doc was explaining everything to Marty. After a while, the subject changed. "Tell me Marty." asked Doc, "How come my future self decided to return to the future with his-I mean my-family?" "You know the rules, Doc." said Marty, "You shouldn't know to much about the future." "Absolutely right, Marty." said Doc, "I know too much already. It's better for me not uncover the circumstances of my destiny." Clara came in with the tea. "Care for some?" asked Doc. "No thanks, Doc." said Marty. "Marty." said Clara, "I overheard Emmett saying that we have a family in the future." "You do, ma'am." said Marty, "Two boys. Jules and Verne." "Jules and Verne?" asked Clara, "Why they're named after my-I mean our favorite authors, Jules Verne." "Marty." said Doc, "I understand that Mr. Fusion now uses manure." "That's right, Doc." said Marty, "You switched to that after the two incidents with the jar of poison..." Doc gave Marty a startled look as he continued to say "...which you don't know yet." "Don't worry, Marty." said Doc, "I'll find out when it happens." Then, he turned to Clara who started to look tired. Turning to Marty, he said "We'd better go. It's time for Clara to turn in." "Right, Doc." said Marty, "Don't worry ma'am. You and Doc will tie the knot." "Thanks, Marty." said Clara as she and Marty shook hands. "I'll see you in the morning, Clara" said Doc as they both kissed. After that, they left.

Twain had followed the trio all the way to Clara Clayton's house. After they went in, Twain went up to the door and listened in-and heard everything. Then, seeing the two men getting ready to leave, Twain ran to a safe hiding place until they left. After they did, Twain said to himself The future. Hearing enough, he went straight to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff found Mark Twain's story unbelievable. "Mr. Twain." he said. "Clemens" retorted Twain, "Samuel Clemens. 'Mark Twain' is a pen name of mine." "Okay, Mr. Clemens." said the sherriff, "For one thing, Mr. Brown is a well respected blacksmith..." "No he's not." said Twain, "He's a scientist. That thing over there that the girl came in is a time machine that he invented..." "Assuming that's true." said the sheriff, "Do you have any proof that he invented it? For all I know, she could have invented it." "A girl her age?" asked Twain, "I find that hard to believe." "And I find your story hard to believe." said the sheriff. "You mean you're not going to do anything about this?" asked Twain. "Nope." said the sheriff, "Except arrest Emmett and his bride-to-be on assaulting the guard providing that you get that gizmo of his out of his hands." "May I say one thing." said Twain, "Did you ever find the body of Clint Eastwood in that train wreck? Or the bodies of the two train robbers?" "No we haven't." said the sheriff. "See." said Twain, "I rest my case." After that, he left.

After Mart Twain left, the telegraph was clicking. After taking it down, the sheriff decoded it. According to the Morse Code, it read that Buford Tannen had escaped and was heading back to Hill Valley.

Hill Valley, California
7:00 a.m.
Marty woke to the sound of the cuckoo clock. The smell of the aroma of eggs filled the air. "Doc?" asked Marty as he looked around. Doc was indeed awake. "Get dressed, Marty." he said, "After breakfast we'll go over to visit Jennifer." Marty did.
After breakfast, Doc and Marty went to the hospital. On his way out, Marty had a good look at the courthouse. The clocktower was now installed. Marty smiled at it. But now, it was down to serious business. Arriving at the hospital Marty got a "tour" of it. He saw old photographs of this. It was like a military hospital with a bunch of cots in one room. "There she is." said Doc motioning to one of the beds. Marty looked over there. And there was Jennifer lying in one of the beds. The attending physician from last night came over to greet them. "She's awake and well relaxed." "Good." said Doc, "I've brought someone here." The doctor looked at Marty and said "Clint Eastwood?" "I'm his brother, Clive." said Marty. "Oh." said the doctor, "Clive Eastwood. I'm sorry to here about your brother Clint, Mr. Eastwood." "Thank you." said Marty, "I'd like to talk to Je-that girl over there." Doc to the doctor aside and said "Relax doctor, he and her go along way." "By all means." said the Doctor, "But not too long." Marty went to Jennifer and said "Hello." Jennifer turned to Marty and said "Hello?" "Jennifer." said Marty, "It's me! Marty McFly. Your boyfriend." "Boyfriend?" she asked, "I have a boyfriend?" "Yes." said Marty, "Me!" Jennifer looked at him and asked "Who are you?" Doc put his hand on Marty's shoulder saying "It's no use, Marty. It's worse than I feared." Marty turned to Doc and said "Doc, we have to do something. Graduation is in a week." "I know, Marty. I know." said Doc, "But there's..." Doc turned to the doctor and said "Excuse us a minute." Taking Marty aside, he said "Listen. We came in a time machine right? We can return to May 31, 1986 whenever we want." "Of course." said Marty. "Okay. Let's go over to the Palace Saloon for a drink." said Doc. "Hey Doc." said Marty. "Yes, Marty." said Doc. "I'm too young to drink." said Marty. "They won't know that." said Doc, "Besides, I'll treat you to some Sasparella." "Okay, Doc." said Marty. At that, they left.
When they arrived at the saloon, there was Mark Twain asking all the customers questions. One of the customers said "...and he said that in the future, there would be horseless carriages called automobiles." "There he is." said another customer. "Great Scott!" whispered Doc to Marty, "We've been pointed out." At that point, the customers spotted Marty and started whispering among themselve. "Uh-oh." whispered Marty to Doc, "They saw me." "Let me handle this." said Doc. He took him to the bar and said "Bartender. A Sasperella for me and my friend." "A-anything you say, Emmett." said the bartender. He went down and poured out the drinks. "Well, well, well, Emmett" said a voice. It was Twain. "Are you going to introduce me to your friend?" he went onto ask. "Of course." said Doc, "This young gentleman is-uh..." Marty just stood there and stared saying "You're Mark Twain." "Clemens." said Twain, "Samuel Clemens. 'Mark Twain' is..." "...pen named that you used." said Marty, "I read all about you in..." Doc nudged him. "And your name?" asked Twain. "Eastwood." said Marty, "Clive Eastwood." "Clive Eastwood, eh?" commented Twain, "Are you related to Clint Eastwood?" "Yes." said Marty, "Yes, I am. He's my twin brother." He turned to Doc. Then, he turned to Twain saying "Or he was my twin brother." "Sorry to hear about that, son." said Twain. "Thanks." said Marty. Looking around, the customers in the saloon were relieved that they weren't seeing a ghost. "I heard he was a great man." said Twain, "I heard how he defeated Buford Tannen in that gunfight a couple months back by wearing a stove cover for a bullet-proof vest and knocked him out with his fists." "That's true." said Marty, "I-I mean-he got the idea from 'A Fistful of Dollars'." "'A Fistful of...'" said Twain. "It's a movie." said Marty, "But you don't know that yet." Marty looked at Doc who was shocked at what he said. "Sorry, Doc." whispered Marty. Then, a sound of horses were heard. Doc, Marty and all the customers went to the window. The building that was housing the DeLorean was now being guarded by men in blue uniform. "The military." said Twain. "Great Scott!" said Doc, "They're guarding the DeLorean." Another look in the general direction of the hospital showed some more military men dismounting and going into the hospital. Leaving Twain, Doc and Marty approached the hospital but were stopped by a soldier who had a rifle. "What's the meaning of this?" demanded Doc. "Sorry sir." said the soldier, "No one's allowed in here under pain of death." "Why?" asked Doc. "Sorry, sir." said the soldier, "I'm just following orders." Marty approached the soldier saying "Listen, I've got a girl in there..." "I'm just following orders, sir." insisted the soldier, "And I'm ordered to shoot anyone who enters the hospital." Then the doctor attending Jennifer came out being accompanied by another soldier. Doc approached the doctor asking "What's going on in there?" "They've been ordered to guard the girl." "Now wait a minute." said Marty, "They can't do that." Then, the soldier who accompanied the doctor said "I'll take this. Sir, we had word that Buford Tannen had escaped from the federal penitentiary and is heading this way here to Hill Valley." Doc and Marty stared at each other in horror. For certain, Buford was out for revenge now. "We're under orders from the Government to protect the girl and guard the ship that she came in. If Buford Tannen gets ahold of that thing in there, God knows what he'll do with it." Upon hearing this, Doc and Marty were going to have more problems on their hands. First Jennifer showing up in 1885 and losing her memory. And now, this. Buford Tannen returning to Hill Valley to exact revenge on both Doc and Marty.
