Hill Valley, California
2:30 p.m.
IT was a brisk clear winter day when Doc and Clara were on the alter listening to the preacher officiate their wedding. Seamus McFly was the best man and his wife Maggie was the maid of honor. Among the witnesses was the famous Samuel Clemens known to the world as Mark Twain and a young visitor from England called Herbert George Wells. "Dearly beloved." said the preacher, "We all are gathered here today to witness the joining of this man and this woman in holy matromony." Doc and Clara looked at each other with smiles on their faces. "Before I precede." the preacher went onto say, "If there's anyone present that have reason why these two should not be joined please speak up now or forever hold his peace." At that moment, there was a sound of thunder outside the church. Then, another sound following that. Each time, there was a flash of light. The congregation looked at each other startled. There was no clouds in the sky when they first entered the church. Where did all that thunder and lightening come from? But, Doc seemed to recognize the sound. It was the sound of a time machine making a re-entry from the temporal distortion. But it can't be? said Doc to himself, I thought when Marty returned to the future, his job would be to destroy the time machine so it wouldn't fall into the wrong hands again and have another case like Old Biff. Then, someone entered the church saying "There's a meteor that landed on the property of the Peabody Ranch." The congregation gave each other a startled stare. Doc was looking beyond the door to the street outside. Already, the townspeople were scurrying down the streets towards the Peabody Ranch to see the crash site. Some of the congregation were getting up to go out there to look when the preacher said "Please remain seated. Remember, we're here..." "That's alright." said Doc, "I'm as curious about this as anyone else." Clara turned to Doc and said "Emmett..." Taking her aside, Doc told her "I know that sound from anywhere." "You do?" exclaimed Clara. "Yes." said Doc, "The last time I heard that noise was when I was attempting my first temporal experiment with Einstein." "Einstein?" asked Clara. "Yes." said Doc, "That's my dog in 1985. And that's the sound of a re-entry from the distortion." Clara gave Doc a concerned look. From what she heard about what happened, with a crowd surrounding the time machine, someone might get an idea about using it to change history-for the worse.

Taking a carriage out to the Peabody ranch, Doc and Clara arrived at the crash site that was already surrounded by townfolks. Fighting their way through the crowd, the two looked to see a crater carved out of the ground. There was an object inside it. "That's not a meteor." said one of the townfolks, "It looks like some sort of a space ship." At that, Doc got closer and looked down. "Great Scott!" he exclaimed. It was the DeLorean. Surprisingly, it was still in one piece. And it was surrounded by ice. "It's cold." whispered Doc to Clara, "Air cold." Someone came down the slope of the crater with a shovel. Apparently, someone had already handled the time machine and felt ice on his hand. The man was tapping the surface with the shovel. "They musn't do that." said Doc to Clara. "Why?" asked Clara. Doc didn't answer. That was because he noticed young H.G. Wells taking notes. "Mr. Wells," asked Doc, "what do you think your doing?" "Why sir, " said Wells, "I'm taking down notes. I'm thinking about writing stories someday and this looks like a jolly good story." Then, the man who was tapping the DeLorean with the shovel looked through the window and said "Hey, there's someone inside there." "Be careful." said one of the bystanders, "It might be someone dangerous. What does this someone look like." "Well." said the man with the shovel peering in, "It looks like..." By now, the ice started to melt and the man closest to the car managed to put his hand on it. Before he could finished, he had his hand on the door handle and the gull-winged door opened almost whacking the man in the face. The people backed away in panic almost afraid of what they might see. The man with the shovel stayed his ground and looked in, finishing his statement "...a girl." Doc and Clara got closer to the opening. "Great Scott!" said Doc. There, lying unconscience and injured in the car was-not Marty-but Jennifer. Great Scott! said Doc to himself, What in the name of Sir Isaac H. Newton is she doing in the car and why hasn't Marty destroyed it? Unfortunately, those answers would have to wait.

Jennifer was taken to the town hospital by ambulance. The DeLorean too was taken into town and stored in the hugest building they could find and was put under strict guard. In those days, the hospitals consisted of multibed rooms almost like a military barracks. As for the wedding itself, on Doc and Clara's request, it was postponed. No reason given. Mark Twain, however, had a suspicious feeling that there was a connection between Doc and the girl. He saw the Doc and Clara keeping a vigil at her bedside until the girl woke up. Clara left for a while but returned having changed out of her wedding gown and into her own clothes. "Emmett." she said, "I'd better take you home." "No." said Doc, "I'm staying here until Jennifer wakes up." "It might take days." said Clara, "That's what the doctor said." "I know that." said Doc, "But I've got to know why Marty hadn't destroyed the time machine when he returned to the future and why he decided to give it to Jennifer." "Emmett." insisted Clara, "You're not getting any answers by killing yourself. Go home." The doctor overheard this and said "I'd listen to her if I were you, Emmett. Go home and get some rest." Doc looked at both of them. Then, he got up saying "You're probably right." Looking out the window, Doc noticed that Twain was still there. Clara noticed this and asked Doc "How long has he been out there?" "Since they brought Jennifer in." said Doc. "I don't like it, Emmett." said Clara, "It's bad enough to have Jennifer crash land in our time but to have vultures like..." "Mark Twain's no vulture." said Doc, "Recalling my study on him, he started out as a journalistic reporter before he became an author and a novelist. I wouldn't be surprised if he took an interest in..." He was interupted by a faint groan. Turning to look, they saw Jennifer coming too. Doc and Clara went back to her bedside. Finally, her eyes were wide opened and she was looking around. "Where am I?" she asked. "You're in the hospital." said Doc, "I mean a hos...well, it's not the hospital you know, it's..." Doc looked up to see the attending physician still present. With this in mind, Doc decided not to tell Jennifer when she was until the doctor left. As he did, Jennifer looked at him and asked "Who are you?" Doc and Clara turned to her. "What do you mean 'Who am I'?" asked Doc, "Jennifer, it's me. Doctor..." "Jennifer?" she ask, "Is that my name?" "Great Scott!" exclaimed Doc, "Jennifer, do you remember anything before you woke up in here?" Jennifer fought to remember. But then she said "No!" Doc and Clara stared right at her as she said "I don't know how I got here. I don't know what happened before I got here." She began to fight back the tears as she was saying "I don't remember anything before I got in here." Looking at Doc and Clara, she said "I don't know either of you. In fact, I don't even know who I am." The attending physician restrained her and called out for the nurse. While they were sedating Jennifer, Doc turned to Clara and whispered "Apparently, the impact has caused her to lose her memory." "Oh dear." said Clara. She was ready to approach the doctor when Doc held her back saying "You're not going to get any information from him. That's confidential." The doctor turned to Doc and Clara saying "She's going to need some rest now. Why don't you both go home?" Doc was about to speak up when Clara said "I think that's a good idea." Then, Doc hit on something and said "I guess you're both right. Let's go, Clara." At that, they left the hospital.
Once outside, Doc told Clara "There's only one way to find out what Jennifer was doing with the time machine." "And that is..." said Clara. Doc turned to the holding area where the DeLorean was kept. Upon seeing this, Clara exclaimed "Emmett, no! You'll be arrested." "Not if I could help it." said Doc as he produced his sleep inducer, "With Jennifer suffering amnesia, the only way I could find out, not only why Marty failed destroy time, but gave it to Jennifer instead is to go back to the future." Clara was skeptical about this but Doc was persistant. At once, they proceeded to the building in which the DeLorean was being guard. Unbeknownst to them, they were being followed by a very nosy Mark Twain.
Doc and Clara entered the building to inspect the DeLorean. In there, a man was guarding the car. The guard saw them and pointed a shotgun at them. "Halt." he said, "Who goes there." "Relax." said Doc, "It's me and Clara." "Emmett." said the guard, "How are you tonight? How was the wedding?" "We postponed it." said Doc, "With all the excitement today, we decided to put the wedding on hold." The guard didn't understand why they would mutually agree to such a thing. But, there was one thing for certain. They were curious about the car. So he pointed his shotgun at the two saying "I'm sorry, sir. But I have orders to keep people away from this-uh ship. I have orders to shoot anyone who don't cooperate." "Oh you do, eh?" said Doc. "Yes." said the guard, "A group of scientists are coming over to inspect this thing and the clothes that the girl was wearing." Doc looked at the table where Jennifer's clothes lay. As a result of the crash, they were now tattered. Then, Clara spoke up. "Why don't you let Emmett look at it?" she asked. "Emmett?" asked the guard. "Of course." said Doc, "I'm a student of all sciences." "You are?" asked the guard. "Yes." said Doc, "Ever since I read Jules Verne's From the Earth to the Moon when I was a boy..." "Hey wait a minute." said the guard, "That novel was written ten years ago." "Well, it made me a boy." explained Doc, "Now, how about it?" "I'm sorry, Emmett." said the guard, "Orders are orders. Absolutely no one is allowed near this ship under any circumstances until those scientists show up." "Of course." said Doc, "We all must do our duty." He was about to take Clara and leave when he turned around and used his sleep induced the guard. Moving him to the bench, Doc went over to check out the DeLorean. It seemed intact. But the makeshift time circuits that his 1955 installed on the hood of the car was gone. Opening the door to look in, Doc checked out the interior. Then, he activated the time circuits. They lit up. Apparently, these too survived the impact. Then, Doc noticed something peculiar. There was something on the time circuits he didn't recognized before. It read "Destination Location". Doc read the entire readout. It read:
DEC 15, 1885 2:31 p.m.
Destination Time
DEC 15, 1885 10:04 p.m.
Present Time
OCT 28, 2015 4:30 p.m.

HILL VALLEY, CA. USA.
Destination Location
October 28, 2015 said Doc to himself, Great Scott! That's one week after me, Marty and Jennifer arrived there. What in the name of Sir Isaac Newton was she there this time? Then, looking at the dashboard buttons, he saw a button labeled CLOAK right next to the HOVER button. He also noticed a button marked ROOF along with the other two buttons. Doc pushed the CLOAK button. A voice was heard. It was Clara's. "Emmett." she said, "Where are you?" "Right here, Clara." said Doc. "But Emmett." explained Clara, "I can't see you. I only hear you." Doc got out. As he did, he heard Clara give out a startled scream. Doc turned to tell Clara to keep it quiet when he notice that the DeLorean was gone. "What in the name of Sir Isaac H. Newton is this." he asked. He stretched his hand out to feel for it. He did. There was a big smile on Doc's face. "This facinating." he said, "It's a cloaking device. Just like the Romulan ships in Star Trek." "Star what?" asked Clara. "Find out in 81 years." said Doc. He went to the table where Jennifer's possessions were. Among them were the keys to the DeLorean. He also noticed a bag of manure there. What in the name of Sir Isaac H. Newton would she want with a bag of manure? he asked himself. Knowing that he had to reload Mr. Fusion in order to go back to the future to find out the circumstances of what brought her here, he went back to the car and pushed the CLOAK button again. The car re-materialized and Doc went to inspect the Mr. Fusion generator. The opening showed specks of manure around it. So that's what the manure was for. said Doc to himself, I didn't know that Marty more of a genius than me. Going back to pick up the manure, he poured it into the fusion generator. Then, he opened a big door that resembled a barn door. Getting in, he started the car, set the time circuits for October 28, 2015 4:15 p.m., activated the flying circuits and guided the car out of the building into the night. Within minutes, it accelerated up to 88 miles per hour and was gone in a brilliant flash of light leaving behind a pair of fire trails.

Hiding behind the building was Mark Twain, witnessing the strange ship leaving the building and flying out into the night and seeing a big ball of fire of which to orange lines came out forming a pathway of where that thing might have gone. He seened enough. Immediately, he went the Hill Valley Telegraph editor's house to wake him up.
