Chapter 5

Marty found himself in the theatre where the Beatles were playing. The girls were screaming. Then he heard the Beatles play "I Want to Hold Your Hand." That's when Marty remembered what Biff did when the song was being played. Marty looked down where his father sat and saw Biff sneak up and produced a jar. He poured it on George's food. Marty tried to get down there and stop the poisoning but found himself fighting a crowd. He finally got there but was too late. George was dead and Marty looked at his own hand and saw it starting to fade away. Then he remembered Dr. Brown's statement of the importance of stopping the poisoning and saw things starting to fade away causing a panic. The screams got louder.

Then it was one scream and Marty woke up and found himself still in the closet. The scream came from outside so Marty took a peek outside. The Beatles were gone but there was a cleaning lady making the beds. She caught the girl from underneath. Then, some men came in. They were interrogating the girl.

Oh geez, said Marty to himself, she's going tell them that I'm in the closet.

But it didn't happened. They merely escorted the girl out of the room. A while later, the lady was gone and Marty got out.

He produced his walkie-talkie and said "Doc, come in."

"Doc here." said his voice, "Marty where are you?"

"Still in the Beatles' hotel room." said Marty, "What time is it?"

"It's 3:10 in the afternoon Marty." said Doc, "You better get out of there and come down to meet me in the alley."

"Why Doc?" asked Marty.

"Just get down here." said Doc, "Doc out."

"Doc, wait." said Marty but there was no answer.

Putting his walkie-talkie away, he quietly opened the door and snuck out. After an elevator ride he found himself in the lobby. Finally, he was outside. Reaching the sidewalk he saw girls screaming and holding onto a car. Marty recognized it as the Beatles.

Then he heard one nearby girl say "That's the Beatles' car?"

"Boy did someone do a bad wax job on it." said another girl.

Biff, said Marty to himself.

Then he turned to the alleyway where the DeLorean would be and saw Doc on the sidewalk.

"Doc", said Marty, "You said I meet you in the alley. What the hell happened?"

"What?" said Doc turning to Marty, "Great Scott! It can't be you!"

Hearing this Marty remembered what Doc said about him living in New York same time that the Beatles were performing and realized that this Doc was the Doctor Brown of 1964.

"It is me, Doc." said Marty, "Listen, Doc, I came here to 1964 with you-the you from 1985-to retrieve a jar a poison that you-that is you from 1985-misplaced before Biff uses it on my dad."

"Future Boy" said Doc, "Are you saying that the me from the future is here with you?"

"That's right, Doc." said Marty, "I saved you from Buford Tannen after you sent me back to 1885."

"And who is this Clara?" asked Doc.

"Clara Clayton." said Marty, "You met her when..."

He was interrupted by a sound on his walkie-talkie.

"Marty." asked Doc's voice through the walkie-talkie, "What's keeping you?"

"Doc." said Marty, pulling out his walkie-talkie, "I'm out here talking to you."

"You what?" asked Doc's voice. "That's right, Doc." said Marty, "I'm standing here talking to you. That is-the you from 1964."

"Great Scott." said Marty. The Doc standing next to Marty said "Marty. Is that me?"

"That's right, Doc." said Marty, "Heavy, isn't it?"

"There's that word 'heavy'" said Doc, "Are you sure the earth's gravitational pull is fine in the future?"

"It is, Doc." said Marty, "And you future self is in the alley. You should go there and say hello to yourself."

"Out of the question, future boy." said Doc. "I already know that I survived Buford Tannen. I don't wish to compound things further by encountering my other self."

"He's right." said Doc's voice from the walkie-talkie, "I mean, I'm right. Remember what happened when Jennifer ran into her future self?"

"Well you're the doc, Doc." said Marty into the walkie-talkie, then turning to the Doc Brown of 1964 saying, "you too."

The Doc of 1964 said "Tell him I'll see him in the future."

"You mean the past." said Marty.

"Right" said Doc. He left

. Marty talked into the walkie-talkie again saying "Doc, I'm on my way. Marty out." he put away his walkie-talkie and went down the alleyway.

In the alleyway, Marty met Doc. "You want me for something, Doc?" he asked.

"That's right, Marty. Get in." Doc and Marty got into the Delorean. Doc set the time circuits to 7:30 p.m. saying "The only way we could find Biff now is at the theatre. It'll be night then and if I could land the DeLorean in the nearest deserted alley, you could get out and go to the theater."

The DeLorean lifted off the ground and took off in a flash.

Sunday, February 9, 1964
7:30 p.m.
New York City, New York.

The DeLorean appeared and landed in the nearest alleyway.

"Remember Marty" said Doc, "If my calculations are correct, your father has one hour and forty minutes of life left. You got one hour and twenty-five minutes to stop Biff. Fail and you know the consequences."

"You don't have to remind me, Doc." said Marty, "Do you think it would be better if I warned dad?"

"No Marty." said Doc, "You had to explain to four persons that you encountered in 1955. You don't want to explain yourself to your dad, too."

"Your right." said Marty.

"Here's the ticket in." said Doc producing the ticket, "Be careful."

At that Marty started towards the theater.

As he arrived at the theatre, Marty looked up to read the marque. It read :

CBS TELEVISION 50
ED SULLIVAN SHOW
THE          GEORGIA       TESS
BEATLES       BROWN       O'SHEA
WHITEWALL-PILLSBURY

Using the ticket Doc gave him Marty entered.

Once in the lobby, he produced his walkie-talkie and said "Doc, I'm inside."

"Good Marty," said Doc, "Find the nearest empty seat to your father, but not to close. Be inconspicuous! When you see Biff coming down the aisle, jump him and take the jar. I'm going on the rooftop and wait there for you. I've set the time circuits for 8:55 p.m. which means you'll be alone without me for the next one hour and twenty minutes. Doc out."

"Doc," said Marty, "Doc, now wait, Doc, DOC. Geez, this is heavy."

He put away his walkie-talkie and went in.

There were a sea of empty seats, but people were filing in. Marty was looking for the area that his father was in when a hand reached out from behind. It was Biff and his gang.

This is my chance. said Marty to himself. "Hey Biff." said Marty pointing to a deserted area, "look." Biff looked.

Marty threw a roundhouse punch. Biff went down. Marty lounged to search for the jar but was overcome by Biff's gang.

Biff got up and demanded "Alright, butthead. Where's your brother Calvin."

"Never." said Marty.

"Alright, you asked for it." said Biff, "Guys take care of him."

The guys punched Marty in the stomach and dragged him outside by way of an alley.

In the alley, Match, Skinhead, and 3D spied a car with an open trunk.

"Let's put him in there." said one of them.

After they threw their hostage in the trunk and closed it.

Then a man camed out of the car demanding "Gentleman, what are you doing to our car?"

"Beat it, queer bait." said one of the guys, "This don't concern you."

Then, four more men came out of the car. They were the Beatles.

"What did you call our manager?" asked one of them.

Stunned, one of Biff's men said "Hey, hey, listen guys. The war with Britain was over almost two hundred years ago. We ain't in the business of provoking you." "

You better not." said one of the Beatles.

The three guys were chased away by three of the Beatles.

++++++

When the three returned to the car a voice was heard in the trunk.

"John." asked Paul, "Did you say something?"

"Not me, Paul." said John.

Then the voice was heard again. "Let me out of hear!" it said.

"It's coming from the trunk." said Ringo.

"Paparazzi." said John, "They stop at nothing to get our picture into their rag."

"No." said George, "It could be one of our fans wanting our attention."

Brian searched his suit. "Does anyone have the keys." he asked.

Paul searched his suit and found nothing. "John?" he asked.

"Why are you asking me Paul?" asked John, "I thought you had it."

"The keys are in the trunk." said the voice from there.

"Say that again." said John.

"I said the keys are in the trunk." said the voice.

"That's great." said John, "Of all the asinine things that might happened tonight, it's to leave the keys in the trunk. How are do you think were going to get out of here?"

In the meantime, the other three Beatles and Brian were trying unsuccessfully to pry open the trunk door.

"John." insisted George.

"This is our biggest night in our lives." said John, "And it's being ruined by someone being locked in our trunk with the keys there."

"John."

"You think New York could afford enough security to keep these kids out."

"John."

"Here we are, making ourselves famous, and we have someone in our trunk."

"John."

"George?"

"How can we get this trunk opened?"

 "Use the key."

"We can't." said Paul.

"The key's in the trunk." said George.

"And we're out here." said Ringo.

"Let me try." said John producing a key. He stuck it in the keyhole and unlock the door.

A youth came out of the trunk and asked "Whose keys are these?" Paul pointed to Brian who took them. Then the youth left.

Paul asked John "John, why didn't you tell us you had an extra key?" "

You never asked." said John smilingly.

Marty managed to get in and when he did, the lower section was already filled and Marty was escorted to the balcony. There, Marty pulled out his binoculars and spied down on the floor seats and saw his father in the front row with the rest of the press. The show was starting.

Marty pulled out his walkie-talkie and said "Doc, Doc." It was no use. Doc had disappeared not to reappear until 8:55. "Great." said Marty putting away his walkie-talkie, "Just great."

It was eight o'clock. only fifty-five minutes left until Biff poisons George. Marty put his head on a railing and faced down.
