Marty began to remember that trip to 1978. He just saw Jandick leave the café and decided to talk Jan into leaving Jim.
Jennifer was aware of Marty's concern for Jan so she asked "Marty, what are you doing?"
"I'm gonna try to talk her into leaving that asshole." said Marty.
"Marty." whispered Jennifer, "You can't. This is 1978. That's the Jan of eight years ago. Remember what Doctor Brown said about interacting with people in the past."
"I know, Jen." said Marty, "Anything I do right now could have a profound effect on future events. But I can't help it now." Turning to Jan, he said "Listen, get away from that son of a bitch. He's bad news."
"Marty." said Jennifer, tapping him on the shoulder.
"He's a bastard." Marty went onto to say to Jan.
"Marty." insisted Jennifer.
"He's trash." he continued to say.
"Marty!" said Jennifer.
Marty turned to Jennifer asking "What Jen?" Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Jandick stand alongside of him. Turning back to Jan, he said "He's right behind me. Right?" Jan nodded affirmatively. "And I'm about to be shit." Marty said with doom in his voice.
"You'd better believe it." said Jandick.
"I think I'd better leave." said Marty as he wiggled past Jandick to get Jennifer and leave.
"You'd better leave." said Jandick, "You chicken!"
Marty was halfway to the door with Jennifer when he heard that. Turning to Jandick he asked "What did you call me?"
"Chicken, jerk!" repeated Jandic.
It's been a year since he avoided the accident with the Rolls-Royce by ignoring Needles' "chicken" remark. There were times when he couldn't control himself, but the resentment over being called a chicken was in full force.
"Nobody calls me chicken." he said.
"Oh, so I hit a nerve." said Jandick.
Jennifer restrained Marty saying "Marty, let's go. Just ignore him."
"Not without Jan." said Marty.
At once, he reached Jan's arm and dragged her out of the cafe with Jandick
following them.
That’s it! Marty said to himself, That’s what got me to make off with Jan. It wasn’t what he was doing to her that got me to make off with her, it was what he called me.
Then he recalled what Doc told him one time.
“Marty. You’ve got to stop losing your own judgment whenever someone calls you a name.”
All this time, he said to himself, I was wondering what the connection was between the break-up and being called a chicken
“Jennifer.” he said.
“Excuse me?” asked Simonetta.
“Jennifer.” said Marty, “That’s the real name of the girl who looks like you. The girl who is gonna marry the prince Saturday. I’ve gotta talk to her. I know what got me to make off with…I’ve gotta find her. If you want you could follow me and I’ll tell you everything.”
They both got up to leave when the bartender asked “Hey Alexander. What about the drink?”
“Oh shit!” said Marty, “I never had a sip. Do I still have to pay for it?”
“What do you think?” said the bartender.
Realizing that he had only once shot at getting Jennifer back before the end of the day and if successful, he won’t be back to pay up, he said “Put it on my tab.”
After that, they left to find Jennifer.

Jennifer had trouble posing for the painting The Birth of Venus after what she heard this morning.
Why did I agree to marry the prince? she asked herself, How did I wind up in a place like this? Knowing that she and Marty were here to fall back in love, she went onto to say to herself Oh, Marty. If only I could fall in love with you again but you were flirting with Jan. After all she had a better life.
Then, Jennifer had a flashback. It was when she suggested that Marty go back to their first meeting just to get his mind of the present day Jan who was being abused by her husband Jim:
There was Jennifer in the DeLorean setting the time circuits. Also, the key was already in the ignition.
"Jennifer." exclaimed Marty, "What the hell are you doing?"
"Setting the time circuits for our trip back in time." said Jennifer.
Marty went over to stop her saying "Jennifer, that's crazy. Doc..."
"And so is going into the house to confront Jandick." said Jennifer.
I didn’t listen to him. she said to herself, I just went ahead with my plan to take him back in time to that day and look what happened. I lost Marty because he was flirting with Jan Jandick and it’s all my fault.
“Simonetta.” insisted Botticelli, “That’s the third time you got out of pose. What’s the matter, eh?”
“I’m sorry, maestro.” said Jennifer as she got back into pose, “It must be wedding nerves.”
I have to find Marty. she said to herself, Pretend that I’ve came to my senses and want him back. It’s the only way I can get back to the future. After that, I’ll use the DeLorean to go back to the day when I took Marty back to the first meeting and stop myself and him from doing so. That way, Marty never makes off with Jan and Jim never crashes into those motorcycles and gets beaten up by those Hell’s Angels and his life doesn’t change, Jan doesn’t get that gallery and Marty is mine.
Then, Jennifer thought of something else.
Jan? she says to herself, What of Jan? I stop Marty and myself, Jan will be back in the same hell that she was before we did went back in time where Marty made off with her and caused that change in destinies. How could losing Marty justify that plan of mine? If I succeeded, how could I live with myself? Look how successful Jan is now. And how do I know that Marty was flirting with her? I don’t know.
“Simonetta.” said Botticelli again.
“Sorry, maestro.” said Jennifer.
Which is better? she asked herself, Falling back in love with Marty and letting him get away with what he and Jan were doing, staying here to be used by a prince, pose naked for a painter from the past or live with the guilt that some plan of mine re-condemned some woman into a life of hell with an abusive man?
“Simonetta.” asked Botticelli, “What’s wrong?”
“I’m sorry, maestro.” said Jennifer.
If I do want to fall back in love, how am I going to do it? she asked herself, If I can’t, I’ll be stuck here used by a prince in a sham marriage and I’ll think back to that one suggestion of mine and never forgive myself. Then, her thoughts stopped right there. Forgiveness. she said to herself. She remembered the gospel reading and the sermon that followed: About forgiving one’s brother, the merciless official, about Christ forgiving his killers when he was dying on the cross and that forgiveness is what love is all about. Forgiveness. she repeated to herself, If Marty was flirting with Jan, then it’s time for me to forgive him.
She recalled her trip to 1966 in which she caused the breakup between her parents. Because neither of them realized that she was their future daughter, her mother thought that her father was seeing another woman and never forgave him. And since she didn’t forgive him, Jennifer had to go back there to prevent her father from running into her before she herself was conceived.
She got off the clamshell saying “I’m sorry Botticelli, but you’ll have to get another model like Marco Vespucci’s wife.”
“Simonetta.” said Botticelli, “You can’t walk out on me now.”
“Yes I can.” said Jennifer, “And another thing, I’m not going marry the prince.”
“What?” exclaimed the artist.
“You heard me.” said Jennifer.
“Why?” asked Botticelli.
“Because I can’t.” said Jennifer, “My heart belongs to someone else.”
“Who?”
“The guy who chased me around the day I arrived here.” said Jennifer, “That’s who I should love.”
“Simonetta.” said Botticelli, “That’s crazy.”
“No.” said Jennifer, “The prince marrying me just to find out about me is crazy.” Botticelli and the three models looked at her in complete shock as she went onto say “I heard the whole conversation between you and the prince about how you and him wanted to find out about me. Well, I’m going to help you now. Then, I’m going to help the prince find out about me.” She took two deep breaths. “I’m from the future.” she said, “And so is that man who’s trying to get me back. We both came here in a time machine that a mutual friend of ours invented and after I tell the prince everything, I’m going to find that man and fall back in love with him so I can return to the year 1987.”
Botticelli and the others looked at her in disbelief. Then, he said “I understand. I understand that you are not the desire of the prince and that you are a madwoman.” Turning to the broom lady, he said “Cover her and take her back to the changing room. There’s a straightjacket there for her to wear in there.”
“Now wait a minute.” said Jennifer but Botticelli ignored her by talking to the male model.
“Put on some clothes.” he said, “And go out to the magistrate. Meanwhile, I’ll inform the prince about this Simonetta’s madness.”
“I’m not crazy.” said Jennifer as the broom lady covered her with the sheet she wore when she came out of the changing room.
“Come on.” said the broom lady as she took Jennifer back to that room, “We must not allow you to harm the prince.”
“Botticelli.” cried out Jennifer, “I’m not crazy. I’m telling the truth. Me and that guy are both from the future. You have to let me go or I’ll never see my own time again.”
Her pleas fell on deaf ears as the male model put on some clothes and started for the door.
Once inside the changing room, the broom lady spotted the straightjacket and sat Jennifer down. As she reached for the straightjacket, as rapier came out of nowhere. It was one of Tannenio’s henchmen.
“Simonetta.” he said, “The boss has a desire for you.”
Jennifer and the broom lady looked at the man in horror.

Turning to the female model, Botticelli said “You help the broom lady keep this Simonetta company until we return.”
“Very good.” said the female model.
Turning to the male model, he said “Let’s go.”
They went to door to open it only to run into Tannenio and two of his men.
“Tannenio.” said Botticelli, “What’s the meaning of this.”
“Botticelli.” said Tannenio, “I know that Simonetta is here. I must have her.”
“She’s not here.” said Botticelli, “And she is betrothed to the prince.”
“Yes she is.”
Botticelli turned to see Simonetta and the broom lady being pushed out of the changing room by the third stooge.
Tannenio looked at Simonetta and said “Well, lookie what we got here.” Noticing that she was wearing nothing but a sheet, he said “Simonetta, my lustful desire for you is out of control. I must enjoy you.”
“B-Biff?” muttered Simonetta.
“Still calling me Biff, eh?” said Tannenio as he grabbed her and held her close to his body, “Very well, then.”
He started to hug her tightly and started to pull the sheet off of her.
“Leave her alone.” said Botticelli, “That’s the future bride of Prince Lorenzo de Medici of Florence.”
Turning to his men, Tannenio said “Take those four somewhere and get rid of them. Make it look like an accident. I’ll join you shortly.” He dragged Simonetta to the clamshell and lay her down on top of it. Noticing that his men were still in the room with their hostages, he said “This is not peep show. Take them and get them out of here.”
Two of the men punched Botticelli and the male model in the stomach and forced all four of their victims into the other room.

Seeing this done, Tannenio turned to his victim who asked “What do you want with me?”
“You know, exactly what I want, Simonetta.” said Tannenio as he reached for the sheet that covered her.
In horror, Jennifer realized what he wanted and cried out “No! Don’t. Get off of me! Please.” She tried to break free but Tannenio reached for his sword and pointed it at her heart.
“Cooperate or die.” said Tannenio.
Seeing this, Jennifer contemplated her fate in shear horror.
